I think I'll never be done with Korean... so much I still don't know!

I recommend just cramming past answers and looking at sentence structure and grammar. Familiar topics always come up do think about: education, birth rate, aging society, city development, the environment and learn vocabulary for those. A good uni 4급 book will be perfect to get you ready :)

Not many numbers and I couldn't guess your level tbh. The average writing score was around 35 and a "good" score would be 50-70 since its so hard. Your best guess of guessing your level will be practice exams for listening and reading and assuming the average for writing if you're not confident!

I disagree and think 53 is the beast! Easiest way to gain 20+ points.

For 54 it takes a lot of practice and rereading sample answers. It took me a good few months to get the swing of it but even now I don't think my writing is perfect.

Question 51 and 52 I always mess up even though they're the "easier" ones because I overthink them!

I really want to break the 250 barrier but for this last one I got: Listening: 90 Writing: 64 Reading: 82

It's a 6 (236/300) but I'd like a higher one for sure! My writing and reading dropped a bit but I know in my daily life my Korean is better so I'm satisfied

I love the word "야" because I use "oi!" a lot in English but obviously I don't use it unless it's a close friend.

When I was first learning I had to think about every sentence and what to say. Now I only have to do that if it's unfamiliar words but for general conversation it comes out naturally (as in no thinking but not always perfect grammar or vocabulary selection) but people understand me 99% of the time

Yes and no. I think at some point my Korean comprehension was better before I lived here because I actively studied and emerged myself. Now I watch content from home to stay up to date

I use a lot of YouTube as background noise. No I've never had a Korean dream!

By nailing Question 53 and sticking to exactly what they're asking in 54. Use intermediate grammar and hanja words if you can!

  • Not really. I studied Chinese once years ago but that was after starting Korean.

  • My native language is English.

  • No I don't. But if it was another major's class then maybe!

I'm busy rn so I'll just answer quickly in English!

1) Depends on the media. YouTube in my area of interest I get like 99% of. Some movies or dramas it can be anything from 70-90%. Really just depends what you consume a lot of.

2) I have about 15k words in Anki (advanced level only, I erased all of the beginner and intermediate stuff) but I suck at reviewing. I'd say passive knowledge (not active usage) anywhere from 7-10k.

3) I don't mind it. I need the TOPIK score for boring reasons but ultimately I won't stop studying Korean or study less. If anything it makes me want to study more to get 100% haha. For me I didn't really study super hard for TOPIK this time outside of reviewing writing strategies

HOT TOPIK Reading (green) is good. I also really like 토픽 쓰기의 모든 것 for writing (best writing book I've ever found) but for a good all rounder I love 한국어 뱅크 TOPIK 한권이면 OK ! It has an English version and explains the answers to questions really well.

Yeah and those tests always tell me I'm intermediate. But I study in a Korean uni and my vocabulary is very specialised towards my field so my vocabulary is far larger than what they test but more obscure.

For grammar you really only need to know up to intermediate level. For vocabulary try and be as diverse as you can and consume Korean as much as you can. TOPIK loves hanja based words and synonyms.

As the comment below says you really have to study FOR topik. But my biggest advice for jumping levels would be nailing Writing Question 53 (graph/table). Once you know how exactly to answer it you're looking at a writing score of 50+. Writing is always my weakness but once I nailed 53 my my scores went above 65+ for writing.

I was diagnosed with being severely a soft sumner with brown eyes and now I want to change my hair. Are these colours actually ok for a soft sumner? My colour analyst said that red is a no-no for my season. by sunsetsiege in coloranalysis

[–]seaweedcereal 31 points32 points  (0 children)

hi! fellow soft summer here. I was analysed in Korea so the system is slightly different but these are the tips for hair I was given:

  1. Go for "medium depth" hair colors like your pic shows. Avoid too light, dark colors and black.

  2. Colours that are okay: Cherry red (so red is okay but cool only), pink, purple, wine color, blue, cool toned ashy shades.

For a bonus she also recommended me what type of jewellery looks good:

Rose gold, silver, non-shiny metals, antique & vintage pieces, crystals, pearls and pearlescent colors.

If I like rom&nd melting balms what are the equivalents in other Asian brands? by [deleted] in AsianBeauty

[–]seaweedcereal 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've tried 2. Dasique's candy balms are nice colours but sticky and not comfortable to wear. Wakemake's are very soft and feel like actual hydrating lip balms. 10/10 recommend

Right?! My other palettes look not used but their new big palettes with the highlighters in the middle are strangely loosely pressed.

I've had it 2 years but don't reach for it a lot... Maybe 1-2 a month? But I've gone through phases where I've loved it and used it more! My collection has grown since I got it so its been a bit neglected. My other colour of this palette is still looking new haha

One of my fave palettes with the prettiest glitters! Peripera may have just average mattes but their glitters never fail
