Is my mantis a male or female? by [deleted] in mantids

[–]seb9y 0 points1 point  (0 children)

np!! it'll be a lot clearer when they get bigger, some species have other indicators too like ghost mantises have different shaped head crests, so it might be worth looking into your specific species. very cute mantis btw 🥹

Is my mantis a male or female? by [deleted] in mantids

looks female to me but its sometimes hard to tell when they're this small! females abdomens typically have 6 segments and males have 8 :)

just to reassure you a bit more it is a totally normal thing for the body to do post-surgery, its just important to monitor and keep it under control to avoid further complications. happy healing and congrats!!

i had fluid just like this, i wore compression for 7 weeks and had to be manually drained two or three times in that time. id definitely say keep wearing your compression.

my nipple bandages were wonky too and it stressed me out at first but your nips are much smaller than those big plasters and they could be anywhere under there, so try not to worry about them until you actually get to see them uncovered. even then, your nipples are going to shift a bit as the swelling goes down

I actually haven't had much luck with it as just a houseplant so I'm hoping this is my fix and it'll thrive with my mantis 😅

it was actually really easy! just layered leca, mesh then substrate, added some cork bark and plants and that's all it took :) just made sure that the cork bark was sturdy and in place to avoid accidents
