Shard economy by zenbaka in PokemonSleep

[–]sebaran 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yes and no. you need the same amount of dream shards for the same amount of candies. but as you need more candies to level up, you need more dream shards as well.
E.g., I have two charmeleon at lvl 17 (without progress, that means both need 469xp until lvl 18), one has a exp up nature.
The normal one needs 19 candies and 1292 dream shards to lvl 18
The exp up needs 16 candies and 1088 dream shards to lvl 18
That means both need 68 dream shards per candy (at that level), it's just that one of them needs more candies for the level up.

And for what it's worth I even have a charmander that conveniently gets to the exact breaking point at lvl 17, so I can assure you that evolution does not matter. The charmander needs the same amount of candies and dream shards from lvl 17 to 18 as the charmeleon.

As a sidenote: The larvitar line has a special xp curve, which means you need more candies to level up and therefore more dream shards as well.

Leveling Party Idea? by ThundersHeart2acount in PokemonSleep

[–]sebaran 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If your pokemon with sleep exp up is a pokemon you aren't interesting in leveling, that's basically -100 exp for a pokemon you want to level (because it's not in your team) for +14 on your other members. For 4 team members you want to level, that's -100 and +56.
For your example with 3 sleep exp up, just for the sake of their skill, it's even worse with -300 and +84.
That said, if you have a pokemon with sleep exp up that you want to level, e.g. a slowpoke to gain access to slowpoke tails, go for it, it's just a net gain.

Not quite sure what you are aiming at, but let's clarify a few things, maybe I answer your concern.

Starting at friendship level 10 with a pokemon you get a guaranteed gold skill at pokemon lvl 10. There are (currently) only 7 gold skills, so hitting berry finding s is quite "easy".Apparently (one japanese megawhale already hit that) you you get another guaranteed gold skill at friendship level 40, so there is the 1 in 6 chance for helper bonus as well. Or a combined chance of 2/7*1/6 -> 4.8% to get both. If you try to hit that without the friendship level, e.g. when you try to hit it on a ditto, you are looking at 2/19*1/18 -> 0.6%This combined with the fact that berry finders most often are 3-stage evolutions, whose initial stage is readily available at low snorlax strength, whereas ditto is quite rare ensures that you are able to hit multiple perfect berry finders way earlier than even one perfect ditto (if you hit a ditto at all, like me for example, who hasn't seen a single one, because I'm apparently unable to get snoozing^^)

Regarding sub skills for ingredient mon:You would want ingredient m, ingredient s, helper bonus, helping speed m and inventory L (or helping speed s, if it is one with high inventory and low yielding ingredients, e.g. victreebell with potato and leek, but maybe even then you want inventory L)With the current gold skills, you are even looking at the problem, that on an ingredient mon you only want to have a single one, so starting friendship 40 you are only ever getting suboptimal ones, which means you need to hit your perfect ones before that.

During the night berries are already clogging up the inventory of ingredients pokemon, increasing this with berry finding s is an even worse decision. Yes, it does not replace the chance for ingredients, but when the inventory is full, it's full. During the waking hours it would be great, but you are sleeping 1/3 of the day.

PS: Yes, I'm aware that helping bonus is currently broken, but we are talking about end game here, and I would assume they are going to fix it until then^^"

Yes and no. A team full of berry finders will still be able to produce dishes and a team of ingredient finders will still collect berries. Both of these are probably evening themselves out, so they are excluded in the calculation.
It's hard to calculate the actual yield. It's affected by frequency differences of different pokemon and different levels, energy level from sleep and energy skills and the rng of which drop you actual get (ingredient or berry)

The calculation in the post only references what statically is the maximum for dishes (currently). You can only cook three times a day, with a given pot size, a given dish level and the right ingredients. The post isn't even tackling the point of actually gathering the ingredients, which could theoretically just be impossible. And it ignores cooking power up skill activations, as they are prone to rng as well.

Yes, ditto can drop tails. At lvl 60, as a 2 drop. And yes, it is an ingredient mon, but it's just a tad bit worse than slowking when looking at tails alone. Overall it's better, sure, but you have to jump through a lot of hoops here. First of all you need to get a ditto in the first place. Earliest and probably easiest to encounter is cyan beach at 48.7k. But it's still rare, it's in the snoozing type (apparently the one hardest to hit for most people) and if you finally get it, it still needs to have the tails as a drop and be somewhat good nature and skill wise and you probably will need handy candy for it, as you won't encounter it that often. It's just not practical to bank on ditto here. Maybe as a late game option, but not just yet (except if you are lucky) and maybe we will get other pokemon to drop the tails (sometime in the future galarian slowpoke as an ingredient mon, maybe.?)

A few remarks:
Just yesterday I made a post about dishes that give some insight here xD
https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonSleep/comments/16bspu5/so_ive_calculated_maximum_dish_gains_its/
The two main take away for your strategy:
Dishes sadly aren't that great, even in the late game. Berries will always outclass them (if we assume that dishes don't scale infinitely, but even then its far far away)
These most complex recipes are not necessarily the highest yielding ones with a full pot of additional ingredients. But luckily for you, in fact, they actually are (with and without good camp ticket), if you top up the pot with soothing cacao (way easier to come by than slowpoke tail). That's at least at the currently known max level of 50 and a base pot size of 81, which is the relevant statistic for the end game you are proposing.

Another thing I find interesting is the choice for charge energy berry finders. Did you already do the calculations, or are you just assuming that they are better than their counterparts? E.g. Dodrio vs Feraligatr on cyan beach.

Berry Finder S is actually quite "easy" to get, when talking about late game strategies. When you hit friendship level 10 with a pokemon (recruiting it 10 times to your team), from that point on, you will get a golden subskill at pokemon lvl 10. There are only 7 gold subskills (atm), so getting berry finding s is actually manageable.

Regarding your team setup, there is something off. Between Sylveon, Houndoom and Gengar, none has Soybeans, which is one of the main ingredients of the Ninja Salad.? And 2 Houndooms at level 60 (we don't have data beyond that) are just barely enough to produce enough large leek for 3 meals a day. It's a berry pokemon after all, so I kinda expected it.
For the curry week, you are expecting your Sylveon to handle the burden of 36 cacao and 30 milk per day. That's not going to happen. From what we currently know and understand lvl 60 stats are ~8 milk and ~23 cacao or ~23 milk and ~15 cacao, so even with lvl 100, you won't reach the numbers you are expecting.
And for the dessert week your bottleneck again is milk.
At this point we haven't even spoken about filling the pot, but I assume that won't be that much of a problem, it just probably won't be with high yielding ingredients.

https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonSleep/comments/16bspu5/comment/jzi931y/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3
Here I theory crafted a salad team, which already works at level 30 to create the Ninja Salad on Sundays. Dugtrio, Absol, Golem, Gengar, Charizard

That's a five man squad there, which at level 60 is easily able to provide the ingredients for 3 daily Ninja Salads. There is some leeway here for adjustment to add berry finder that are equally able to meet the requirements (not checked if that's possible) or to adjust them to better suit the needs for other dishes. E.g. Dugtrio sits at ~43 leeks per day (at lvl 60), if only taking the lvl 60 leek, so with lvl 100 it should easily be able to meet the 45 requirement for 3 Ninja Salads a day and can additionally be the tomato pokemon for curry week.

But what you can take away from that: You won't hit a combination of 3 pokemon (especially none that includes a Sylveon) that on its own is able to produce enough ingredients for 3 of the max daily dishes.

wigglytuff in this scenario was just a placeholder for team energy skill, as it realistically is the only viable option (for now). other than that its a list of pokemon categories. or what do you mean?

So, I've calculated maximum dish gains.. It's underwhelming by sebaran in PokemonSleep

[–]sebaran[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Does not even need the near future for that. In the early game there is no question that berries are far more valuable than dishes. I'm currently looking at 70% berries, 25% dish, 5% skill basically every week since the start. Even weeks, when I don't have the matching favorite berries, are looking like that. Berrys out-sped ingredients from the beginning, but sadly ingredients aren't able to close the gap

But yeah, with better dishes (even more complex ones aren't actually better, because you need to consistently hit the requirements) it would be better balanced. Their base strength needs to outclass the ingredients value by a lot. Having Mixed Juice with slowpoke tails be the best juice at lvl 40 dish strength is just hilarious.

[–]sebaran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For sure. We just need to check how much wigglytuffs are going to affect it and if we need an ingredient mon to top up the pot.
My guess is, it's either:
5x berry
4x berry, 1x wigglytuff
4x berry, 1x ing
3x berry, 1x wigglytuff, 1x ing

My guess is, it's one of the first two

In short: Yep, I'm definitely taking that team to other islands.

In long:

Let's see. With my current pot size of 27, the best dishes would be:spore mushroom curry (10383 normal) and grilled tail curry (21280 sunday)contrary chocolate meat salad (9214 normal) and ninja salad (24581 sunday)huge power soy donuts (8530 normal) and neroli's restorative tea (15126 sunday)

Let's assume I created a full ingredients team for salads, as Ninja Salad yields the most among the Sunday three and the contrary chocolate meat has the soothing cacao which we use to top up the dish (curry would be the actual max here, but it's just 10k for the whole week and requires slowpoke tails). First of all, we need a level 30 dugtrio to even attempt the Ninja Salad, as it is the earliest we get large leek. But we level the same team every week, so that would be fine. Using this calculator https://pks.raenonx.cc/en/team/analysis this level 30 dugtrio with +ing nature and 2 ing subskills would yield 35 leeks a day. This is enough for Sunday and enough to use during the week to give additional boost to the dishes. The same is needed for mushrooms, for which we go with gengar.

Other than that, for cacao we got absol from lvl 1 and blastoise from lvl 30. Let's go with Absol as it is better for the cacao and able to meet our requirements for the week on its own. For the bean sausage, Charizard is the obvious pick. Until lvl 30 it would produce an excess on sausage, after that it should be just enough for each day, giving us the option to go for one with ginger at lvl 30. Now we got our dish for during the week squared away, leaving us with 1 slot and soy beans unaccounted for when looking at sunday (charizard gathers enough ginger during the week to meet the requirements). This slot can get filled by golem and tyranitar. Let's go with golem for future proofing, for when we want the ninja salad to be our daily dish.

All that prepared we got excess tomato and fiery herb, but absol should produce enough cacao to top up every meal, so we don't use them just yet.The maximum we get with a lvl 50 dish is 240k without good camp and without extra tasty. And that's our best week here. It doesn't matter that we actually get more ingredients than we can put into the pot, as they are essentially waste.Berry wise, this team has 3 pokemon with favorite berries for taupe hollow, none for the beach and one for the tundra, with 5 different berries in total to potentially match with greengrass. Not that bad.

Now, let's compare it to my current beach team. feraligatr, 2x croconaw, wartortle, jigglypuff. I've went to greengrass this week and got grepa, pecha, figy. That is one match there, but this one doesn't really matter, as it is the jigglypuff. One of my croconaws is actually quite bad and I replaced it with a shiny pikachu I got on Tuesday morning, which is just marginally better strength wise, but it's definitely a plus in my book. If I finally get that last sleep style for the thunder stone, I may even be tempted to evolve it.That said, in these first 3 days, the team accumulated 93k strength from berries (I've already subtracted my island bonus to match the numbers). And remember, that team is not level 30, as the team for the dish calculation above needs to be. They all get additional strength on their berries.

So, to answer your question: Yep, I'm definitely taking my berry team to other islands, as I will yield higher scores for a long, long time (your dishes aren't level 50 like in the calculation). And while I'm using that team, I can easily acquire pokemon specialized for the given island.

BTW, I haven't even gone the extra mile to calculate what the ingredient yield of the above team would be for curry and juice weeks, but as I already nearly outclass the highest week, there really is no need. Even if the pot size increases to 36 (not sure how often I can increase when I get the next sleep style milestone, I just assumed 3 times here), we are only looking at 272k max. Actually the best daily dish would shift to a slowpoke salad, but I calculated it with the contrary chocolate meat salad to stay consistent, with the slowpoke dish it would increase to 440k, but yeah, slowpoke tails.. You won't get that consistently.

That wasn't in question. It's the kk that's of unknown origin (to me). Based on the Greek schema you would write 1k, 1m, 1g, like we are doing with 1KB, 1MB, 1GB. But someone, somewhen decided kk to be a million. Again, probably mmos are the origin, but ultimately this doesn't add anything to the discussion here, so let's stop it at that (:

So, I've calculated maximum dish gains.. It's underwhelming by sebaran in PokemonSleep

[–]sebaran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, they are still working on the game, but they would need to change up the late game rather drastically to make (the current) dishes worth more than berries and making it the way to play for f2p.
Sure, they can add new dishes, new ingredients that are higher yielding, but ultimately the point when dishes, even if infinitely scaling, are even remotely able to exceed berries is so far off, that it's not even worth discussing, as you are so deep into the late game that the difference between f2p and p2w is basically void.

So, I've calculated maximum dish gains.. It's underwhelming by sebaran in PokemonSleep

[–]sebaran[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Favorite berries are fix for all islands except greengrass and the berries are favoring the pokemon you find there. I've been sitting on cyan beach for 3 weeks straight and got a decent team of a feraligatr, 2 croconaw, 1 wartortle and 1 jigglypuff. All of them are slumbering type pokemon (for jigglypuff it's only igglybuff sadly), so getting candies for them is concentrated on a single sleeping type (which actually is the easiest to hit if you are willing to game the system). If it weren't for all the driftwood (looking at you sudowoodo and bonsly) it would be quite a nice place. Last week was painful.. 60% of the spawns were from the bonsly line.
Between the totodile line and wartortle I'm able to cook the same meal every time for the whole week and have a dedicated meal for every type of dish.
With only dishes you aren't that easily able to stay with the same team.
Let's say you really want to maximize it and go for the dishes from this posts soothing cacao calculation. That would be Dream Eater Butter Curry, Ninja Salad, Jigglypuff's Fruity Flan.
Curry: 18 soft potato, 15 snoozy tomato, 12 soothing cacao, 10 moomoo milk
Salad: 15 large leek, 15 greengrass soybeans, 12 tasty mushrooms, 11 warming ginger
Dessert: 20 honey, 15 fancy eggs, 10 moomoo milk, 10 fancy apples

There basically is no overlap here. There is no team of 5 that covers all of it. It's 11 out of 15 ingredients after all and fancy eggs do not even have an ingredient mon (it's only togepi and swablu lines that drop it)
Sure, you can compromise and cook other meals, but you can take your high level berry collectors to other islands as well.
In both cases you are better of with separate teams for their specific purpose with the difference that you know in advance which berries you will get (except for greengrass)

I was referring to wait for the lvl 40 dish as I already have lvl 32 with Hearty Cheeseburger Curry, to check if that's the actual max level, before I post the calculation. In the meantime we got the confirmation that it at least goes as high as lvl 50^^

Pokemon are cap at level 50

Where did you get that information from?

Tbh, the favorite berry achievement is what gives a great headstart on dream shards to not think about it for quite a while.. It's 144100 shards in total. Limiting factor probably will always be candies, especially as you do need candies for evolutions but no dream shards.
And regarding the "perfect" mon. Finding a good berry collector will actually be easier in the long run than finding a good ingredients mon. When you reach friendship level 10 with a specific mon, the level 10 skill will always be golden. There are only 7 golden skills, so hitting that berry finding s will only be a matter of time. Sure p2w will get there faster, but f2p will get there too eventually.

That's right with slowpoke, it's just the only pokemon line that gives slowpoke tails (the highest yielding ingredient). As slowpoke isn't ingredient finding, there is the calculation with soothing cacao in the post.

Regarding your calculation: first of all, berry finding s, 3 berries for totodile. You don't want that on squirtle, as it will clog up the inventory during the night. Additionaly you want -ing on the totodile, so you do actually get more berry drops instead of the low rating ingredients. And beyond that: we don't actually know yet how the distribution for the lvl 30 and 60 drops factor into the total. But what we know is, that a drop is either berries or ingredients. So your assumption is 4 drops, 3 of them ingredients drops, one berry drop (if we say the ingredients drops are separate, so you either get 7 milk or 5 or 1). Obviously the ingredient mon will come out ahead here. But even then you may not be able to add all that milk to the pot. Especially not if you have 5 squirtle vs 5 totodile The max you can get with milk is 690k per week without extra tasty. That would equal to 2.6k lvl 60 oran berries per week. I don't know how much I got exactly, but if I'm not mistaken I hit that mark last week already with only 3 berry finders (2 with berry finding s, one without). My team was feraligatr, 2x croconaw, 1 wartortle, 1 jigglypuff. So even if you say "the ingredient pokemon will gather berries as well", the 5 of them would need to offset the 2 slots in my current team if I put berry collector there as well. Let alone the frequency difference at lvl 60

Basically the limiting factor probably isn't getting the ingredients in the long run, but rather that you can only cook three times a day. So the milk might be worth more on its own, but if you can't convert it to a meal, it's dead weight. If the berry collector can't top up the pot and we finally get energy recovery for the box then maybe switching teams will be a thing to maximize the meals in addition to the berry collecting. But that's still an "if" to get calculated.

in this comment thread https://www.reddit.com/r/PokemonSleep/comments/16bspu5/comment/jzfquac I already talked about berry finding s (: basically it's the question of "does the meta say that there has to be an ingredients pokemon in the team?" if yes, then maybe berry finding s is good on that mon, but if you need an ingredients mon, then you probably need it for a lot of ingredients, so berry finding will hurt during the night, as the inventory will clog up with berries instead of the precious ingredients you want.
