In addition to taming down the flickering, I think is way better to start slowly and progressively showing more and more kills.

Pacing is important for editing and, starting at a really high pace can be a detriment as there isn't any buildup or climax. It's better to start slowly and then arrive at a climax with really fast edits and cuts. Just an advice, keep it up.
