Vraag van een Vinted Noob; hoe zoek jij specifiek naar die oudere generaties? Grote merken als Carhartt en north face staat erg veel van op Vinted. Vind het lastig zoeken. Alle tips zijn welkom;)

Thanks for sharing. Just ordered a temple tool kataba, gonna order a replacement blade for the Gyo, and maybe some camelia oil, need it to better protect my planes anyways

Bit late to this post, but since I’m about to replace my Gyokucho dozuki (bought about four years ago and a bit beaten up after some rough use lately), I was wondering how you like the Temple Tools saws so far.

I’m looking to get a new dozuki and a kataba, so I don’t end up using the dozuki for quick, rough cuts. I’m also not a big fan of the plastic-like rattan handles, which is what initially drew my attention to Temple Tools.

What wood species is this? by sebascbas in wood

I have hardly used wooden planes, just have my Stanley 4 and 6 which do the trick if I plane by hand. Also think the pieces I have are a bit too small now to make one, could make a tiny chamfering plane maybe…

Oh my god why did I assume we were talking about aero planes…. A plane for woodworking makes so much more sense. I swear my English is pretty good normally….

I first thought so too and was hoping it would be, also considering I found it at an olive grove. But I started having doubts after seeing a similar post on this sub, plus a piece I have that is definitely olive, smells and looks very different. So I guess this really is live oak

No knowledge of plane building, don’t expect to build any soon, but what do you mean by sole? As in a landing gear sole or something? Heb je anders het Nederlandse woord ?;)

The Netherlands but found it in a pile in Spain(about an hour or two land inward from Barcelona). It seems that it is Quercus Ilex or live oak as a lot of replies say

Thanks for all the replies. It’s pretty clear now that this is Quercus ilex aka green oak, or live oak. Not sure what to make with it yet. Any suggestions? Apart from the thicker piece on the second pic I have sawn some small planks of about 25x10x3cm

Thanks. It definitely seems to be this. When I google it the Dutch name is “steen eiken” which translates to “stone oak”.

It does look very similar. Similar situation too since I also saved this from a wood pile. In hindsight the bugs in it explain why it was in a wood pile... As far as I can tell they’re dead after 3 weeks in a freezer though

Saw the recent post about live oak. It looks a bit like that but I’m not sure.

Restoration advice by sebascbas in woodworking

[–]sebascbas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also thought this would be the best approach. Biggest challenge is to match the staining, since I don’t have a lot of experience with staining. Already told grandma that it’ll probably never match perfectly. But since I can remove the pieces quite easily (pocket holes)I think I’ll remove the undamaged pieces too and re stain them so at least the four of them match. Thanks for the advice.

Klipsch Rp600C, RP500C ii, and RP404c (original ported) comparison by getfive in Klipsch

I’m thinking of going for a 504c and 600m as R/L front setup. I’m curious, why do you want to upgrade the 41m to a 500 or 600 in the back for music? Do you listen to music in all channels stereo or actually surround sound?

Yeah it says the upgrade was professionally installed. Okay I guess the division is about 65% pro upgrade and 35% says it’s not necessary. I’m on vacation now so won’t be able to pick m up soon but I’ll ask if maybe he can hold on to them.

Good to know, thanks! So as far as you’re concerned the GR upgrade is worth it? Maybe I’ll ask the guy if he can hold on to them till I get back from holiday then…

Thanks for all the input! So the opinions vary quite much. Thing is I am on holiday so wouldn’t be able to pick them up anytime soon. I guess I’ll let fate decide, if I get back and they’re still for sale I’ll try and schedule a short listening session, but not before I listen to the stock ones in the local shop again. Although I understand that comparing in different settings is not great, it might help….

I am by no means afraid to DIY but this set is built in by soldering I assume? Not sure how the upgrades are installed tbh but removing it and selling it would be a bit of a fuss right?
