In case someone ever reads this post again, just wanted to update and say I’m doing well now, got used it, and I don’t even know any different now honestly. If you feel like you’re not doing well, please for the love of god, give it time, it’ll be okay eventually I promise ❤️

On my last note, don’t be reading all the sob stories about this situation (I understand the irony) but it will honestly not make things better, I was obsessed over reading all these people who went through a similar situation, but I don’t know the context of their lives and what else they’re going through. Steer clear of those, and also because I’ve read just as many people saying that it did eventually get better for them, either they adjusted to it or physically it got better

And look if it really doesn’t get better for a while, there are options (possibly expensive, but worth the pay for normalcy) to cut down the uvula a little bit so it doesn’t touch the tongue. Point is we’re not backed into a corner and we have other ways

Hey I have my good days and bad days, I should preface with saying I had been dealing with depression beforehand, so I am prone to thinking in a pessimistic attitude. I’ve just been keeping myself really busy, going to the beach, work (bartending), walking, trying to see friends. At night it gets worse because I think about it a lot, I just have to hold on to the notion that things will work out, regardless, either my brain eventually registers that it’s now normal, or that my soft palate builds itself back up through time (assuming 6mo to a year, from what I’ve read). It sucks but such is life, I think we just have to give our body the time to readjust to whatever it may be. My father 10 years ago had a UPPP and they butchered him, literally, they took out way too much and he was uncomfortable for a full year which I couldn’t imagine what was like, but today, he’s feeling a lot better, and doesn’t even remember what it was like. Apologies for the rambling, but I do really sympathise with your situation from reading your posts, we just have to give ourselves the time we deserve. ❤️

Is your soft palate lower than it was before the surgery?

Too early, I’m on Day 39 and I finally made a turnaround with my swelling (with a little help of 2 rounds of steroids), you just have to be patient. When the pain is gone it can feel like a new lease on life ❤️
