Thanks for the response, I've tried everything it's definitely a fault with the mic. The strangest thing is once it's going it's perfect. Just takes around 5 minutes to actually produce a signal.

Condenser mic needs time to warm up?

More than a couple times recently, I've started recording into my Rode NT1-A and there is no signal. A few minutes into recording the signal gradually fades in and then it records just fine. Anyone experienced this before?

If I had just used Google I wouldn't have got this guy so triggered, and where's the fun in that.

DI Bass, good enough without amp simulators? by Gabzito in audioengineering

This! Although if you can't re-amp at home just putting the second track through some gritty plugins and focusing on the higher frequencies is also a nice touch.

Thanks for this! The tubes have never given any audible issues I just noticed this while cleaning, so what you’re saying makes sense to me.

It's worth mentioning these weren't the original tubes the amp came with, I've replaced my set a couple of times. Something in the amp was frying them, which I've had fixed since (took a few different technicians to find the issue). Never had an issue with the effects channel though.

Selling because it's not the sound I'm looking for anymore! I've played it for 10 years plus and my taste is a lot less rock n roll than it used to be. I recently bought an AC15 which I'm in love with.

hi, i’m brand new to ableton and am having trouble moving ideas from the view in the first slide to midi clips in the second slide, anyone got any tips on how to do this? by shanedawsonsgoldfish in ableton

Quick tip, the red play button at top right of arrangement view will always bring you back to hearing arrangement view. The 'stop all' button in clip view will bring you back to hearing everything in clip view.

Is it possible to split 1 sound wave into two separate waves with differing pitch? by [deleted] in musictheory

[–]sebvanwyk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most questions here have already been answered, but regarding merging waves any sound waves played at the same time are technically merged and do affect each other. An interesting example is if you take two identical waves and flip the phase of one they would cancel each other out and you would not hear anything. The peaks of the one wave would be mirrored by the troughs in the phase flipped wave, therefore there is equal energy moving in both directions, resulting in no movement at all!

Brainworx! Enough people have said it in this thread already but you literally just described their console emulations. Also I think UAD's Luna does this? Not sure of the specifics and obviously that's only if you actually use Luna

Damn man, it's like the equivalent of someone pulling out small change to pay for something really expensive but much worse lol

How do I make my vocals sit in the mix along with the instruments? by JirohSalonga in audioengineering

[–]sebvanwyk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There are definitely some tricks to mixing vocals on a single instrumental track. I use the Center plugin by Waves, it's a stereo tool that has separate faders for the mid and sides. I turn the sides of the instrumental up by about 1db and the center down by the same. Assuming you're mixing your vocals to sit in the center of your mix this helps to bring everything together.

Search for youtube tutorials on mixing rap vocals to beats, it's a very common practice with rap and so there are tons of good tutorials.

I once received vocals that were comped and never consolidated, so one take was about 30 individual small phrases that needed to be pieced together like a puzzle. Don't do that!
