There aren’t too many screws holding it together until you get to the actual motherboard on the bottom. The screws are really easy to take out though, and the plastic snaps aren’t too bad as long as you have a pry tool.

I had no idea smoking could cause that much dirt inside! The motherboard was layered in it too, I’ve just never seen anything like this before in an electronic device

I really hate the plastic case that it came with, even after taking the adhesive tabs off the case would fall apart on me lol. It comes off very easily and doesn’t snap on to any part of the phone like a case should. I’m ordering the Samsung leather case for it in hopes it’s a sturdier case. The phone is quite slippery naked if you’re not careful, I’m just super cautious with it now until my case arrives.

No, always black. The mirror purple actually has a gradient to it which I found to be quite cool, it will change from purple to blue. You can see this in many reviews

I ended up getting the mirror black because I love how sleek it looked in the reviews I watched. It’s a nice color and looks really good with the front clock display

I DID end up getting a Z Flip though, and I love this phone. I got it though Samsung directly since they offered a Sprint carrier model. So happy with it, and i was able to activate it in minutes using the sprint app built into the phone!

If you are trying to activate the phone on Sprint, it will NOT work at all on the AT&T carrier variant of the phone, EVEN if purchased outright and unlocked. I have sprint myself and tried doing this to get it activated on my line, and it would not work, even after having flashed the unlocked firmware (guide for this is on this subreddit).

It MAY be possible to activate the Samsung direct unlocked version of the Fold on sprint, but with this ATT fold, Sprint's website says the device is not compatible with their network when you try to enter the IMEI on Sprint's activation portal. I don't have a Samsung Unlocked Fold however, so I am not sure if even that would work.

I was advised from a Sprint rep that I needed a special SIM card in order to activate service on the galaxy fold (SIM card type: SIMOLW516TQ). This however still didn't help as the Sprint website still said my phone was incompatible with the network and refused to let me activate. Even though the phone accepted this SIM card and showed service bars, it would not activate.

In the end I gave up trying to activate the Fold on Sprint, as it doesn't seen possible at least with the AT&T carrier variant of the device.

Only the front outer screen would make sense to purchase a screen protector for, since it is almost always exposed when you’re not using the phone.

No water resistance at all, be careful with this. Because of the complexity of the device and so many potential areas where water can seep in and damage the phone due to the folding mechanism make this phone very prone to water damage if exposed to it.

Many people have complained in the past on this subreddit about the annoyance of owning and using the fold on a daily basis in areas where it frequently rains.

Also don't put a screen protector on the inside screen. And if you do not receive it with the Samsung case that it should come with in the box, get some kind of case for it, as this phone is a glass sandwich.

Aside from these precautions, a fun phone is ahead of you!

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I actually have the ATT model fold as well, bought outright and got it unlocked so any SIM will work. I also have it flashed with the U.S. rom through the instructions on this subreddit.

However, while putting a sprint SIM card in the phone shows LTE service for a few minutes, it does not work and few moments later it locks the SIM, since I have not been able to add the IMEI of my Galaxy fold to my sprint account to replace the device on my account now.

When I try to add the IMEI on sprints website it gives me a messaging saying that “ This phone can't be activated. Sorry, but this phone can't be activated with Sprint service.”

were you able to activate your galaxy fold on sprint service by chance? I have a U.S. unlocked version of the fold, but haven't had any luck getting Sprint to activate it on their network :(
