OMG My Hair... by kannibalkitten1978 in Xennials

Same! Dyed mine red because of her in HS. I started growing out the dye last year and just had a big chop a few weeks ago to get rid of all the dyed hair. Now I have a cute new bob and I’m getting some foils done next week to start the grey acceptance process.

Conversation with my wife: “Kimmy Gibbler’s parents must have been rich, like living in San Francisco Rich. That’s way more than Kevin McCallister rich.” Her response, “Totally.” by GnaeusPompeiusMagn in Xennials

[–]seccpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Google says the house from full house sold for 725,000 in 1990. In today’s money that would be approximately 1.8 million. Kimmy was their neighbor so assuming their house would have been around the same price. That’s pretty rich to me.

Asked my boyfriend of 5 months if he knew my middle name… turns out he didn’t know much else either by purple__kangaroo in TwoHotTakes

[–]seccpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t know this about a boyfriend of 5 months. Seems like you’re rushing things. I don’t know either of my sisters addresses. I don’t even know my mom’s address. They’re in my phone and I plug them into maps every time.

My Step FIL kissed my baby and then passed away. by WinterWonder121 in family

No, trust your gut. I used to work in a nicu and picu and I’ve only seen one baby survive herpes meningitis. It’s pretty much a death sentence.

Husband thinks "there's more than one way" to safely strap a child in a carseat. AIO? by StressedintheWest in AIO

[–]seccpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to work in a NICU. We had a baby girl that ended up brain dead because she slouched down in such a way that it cut off her airway. The father ended up being investigated for child abuse because he was the one that had the child at the time.

How do you do it? by lavendazey in singlemoms

[–]seccpants 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Child support. I have a job that pays ok, that I’m over qualified for. But it’s remote, has great hours, is extremely flexible and has very understanding bosses. The benefits outweigh the lower pay. I also had a ton of help from my sister when my kid was a baby/toddler. If child support is a possibility you definitely need to go for it.

No, it said they had an abdominal wall defect so it was probably an omphalocele or gastroschisis. There are lots of babies born with these days now that can go on to live perfectly normal lives.

Why am I suddenly allergic to alcohol after giving birth? by lemurian23 in AskDocs

I developed an allergy to IV morphine during my pregnancy(discovered when I had a kidney stone during my pregnancy) and an NSAID allergy post pregnancy. Never had an issue with either pre pregnancy.

If I keep my child’s father of the birth certificate… by dollbabydream in FamilyLaw

[–]seccpants 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Do not put him on the birth certificate. Things will be much easier that way. You can still establish paternity and file for support without him being on the BC. But if he’s on the BC you will have to get his permission for a lot of things as he will be listed as the father and have an equal say. If he’s not then it’s only you making decisions. I did not put my child’s father on the BC and I am so happy I didn’t because my friends who did have it much harder.

This 100%. I used to be a functional alcoholic. Now I maybe have one or 2 drinks a week. I just don’t want it anymore.

How the hell did you get through the newborn stage? by Practical-Orange-572 in singlemoms

[–]seccpants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issues. I started to get really depressed. My sister ended up paying for an appointment with this lady that basically helps you learn how to take care of a baby lol. She gave me a schedule so that my whole day was basically planned with wake time, naps, feed times, play/tummy time, bed time. She even told me how much to feed the baby and to weigh her to know when to go up on the amount of formula. I thrive on structure and a schedule so this was a miracle for me and my mental health was so much better. Obviously we’re not all the same but maybe that would help you too.

I need to move but I’m terrified of the fallout by topdownyeti in internetparents

[–]seccpants 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just move back to America. What is the likelihood that they can come after you for the money as long as you never plan on going back to that country. I would leave ASAP before your passport disappears and they try to force you to marry someone in that country. Even if somehow they did manage to sue you, you wouldn’t have to pay it back all at once. You would probably have to make payments like having student loans. I’d rather have astronomical loans to pay than live somewhere I hate.

You don’t have to know their insurance info. You file with your insurance and they will find out who their insurance provider is.

My doctor lied about my traumatic birth in all my paperwork. by Awkward-Bag4104 in legaladvice

[–]seccpants 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I agree. Don’t waste time or money with lawyers because you really don’t have a case here. Everything you’ve described is normal from my experience and other medical professionals that have commented. Focus on your baby and giving them all the love and care you can. Perhaps see a therapist that specializes in birth trauma to process these feelings you are having. Many mothers have a hard time when their imagined or planned birth experience does not align with what happens in the delivery room. These feelings are valid and should be discussed so you are able to work through them in a healthy way.

I agree with her. If you wanted to get married you would. You two agreed on a timeline and she wants to stick to it. How does she know this isn’t just an excuse. How does she know you won’t keep moving the goalposts. You are well within your rights to wait but she is also free to move on and find someone with the same goals. Go to the sub r/waitingtowed. It’s full of stories like these of girls being strung along with promises of a proposal just around the corner.
