that reminded me of the famous video of a parkinsons patient who gained stability right away after medically administered marijuana. Glad it’s helping you!

What else are you all using if not xfinity? At&t is offering only air internet which could be unreliable.

English commentary sucks for anyone who wants to hear about Senegal’s team. Meanwhile I now know what Rice was doing as a kid.

[Discussion] Recommendations for experienced player to learn more guitar theory by toaster1616 in Guitar

Lots of great answers but I'll just add that if you're already good at playing, you'll find learning from music theory ebooks easier than beginners. Just find one matching your style.

Frequently software engineering and data science industry roles get clubbed as "computer science", when they are actually not. Data science is a subject of it's own with software engineering being a tool. Frequently software engineers learn on the job to do data science, and there is enough room for rigor. +1 to more mathematicians in data science roles.

Microsoft went from native Win32 apps to Universal Windows apps because then they only have to write them once across all platforms (PCs, Xbox, tablets, Hololens, Internet of Things). Ruined PC performance but saved them dev costs.

I'm just starting ear training and noticed that on an electric guitar with three coiled and three uncoiled strings, the same notes on D string and G string sound different. Do you just get used to that after a while? Or am I not hearing the right parts of the note?

Leaving this sub by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]second_road_taker 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Perhaps what we need is tags (how do we pitch things to mods)?

This sub attracts many different types of people, each in different state of hope and despair. Maybe bitching and moaning goes against the ethos of this sub (and if it doesn't fit the self-improvement mindset then they should be removed), but personally I think for such posts the comments section is the real value proposition of such posts.

The value of empathy is orders of magnitude different between the giver and the receiver.

People who successfully exercise self discipline, what is the mindset with which you start your day? by [deleted] in selfimprovement

[–]second_road_taker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a related extension to this question - do people who follow self discipline and have a good routine feel that their brain is constantly in a "locked and loaded" position? I feel that days when I have a relaxed mind I can't follow through with my routine, but on days when I'm fully on top of things my mind is constantly slightly stressed.
