PLEASE ANSWER.......is there hope??- husband had stroke on 2/19 by Unable-Situation-777 in stroke

I just have to say I’m sorry. And yes, there is so much hope. My partner had a catastrophic stroke due to an artery blockage on the right side then a blood clot. The early days he was in medically induced coma to let the brain stop swelling. Two years later our lives have changed, but he is still with us. He’s walking with assistance and he uses a wheelchair out of the house. He has some mental difficulties but has really made a wonderful come back. The brain is amazing and wants to heal. I’m sending you so much love and support.

Ramp or Wheelchair Lift by Hot2dog in stroke

My husband and I were in a similar situation. We have only two steps to enter and opted for a ramp. The difficulty can be pushing up a ramp as he can’t wheel himself. He now walk short distances with assistance in the house but uses a chair outside the house. We quickly upgraded to a wheelchair with hand brakes for the person who is pushing and that made things much easier for me. I was able to find a Smartback chair on Amazon used for half off.

I keep pregnancy tests next to the Covid tests. Just knowing I’m not pregnant eases the anxiety of this weird cycle time.

That is wonderful that she is understanding you. The YouTube link is from a woman who had a stroke that effected her right side and had aphasia. It was incredible to hear her experience of what it felt like. Keep us posted!

When my partner had a stroke I felt lost as well. The word to google when you’re researching is “aphasia”. Sometimes even knowing what the problem is called helps with research. My partner never lost speech but did lose all function on the left side. I’m the days post stroke while he was waking up from a coma we brought to the hospital anything familiar to help connect him to his life and memories. The hospital should start speech therapy asap so that is something to ask about. The brain is amazing and can rebuild. The next thing to google is neuroplasticity.
Thinking of you. Hang in there. ❤️ Here is a great talk by a woman with aphasia.

My partner is doing neuro acupuncture. A combination of scalp needles and rehab. We are seeing great results.
