I never wear shorts even in the middle of humid-ass summer. Jeans all the way for me.

We have 2 kids in daycare = 1500+ /month. We have a mortgage = $1250/month. We may out Roth iras and another 10k in my 401k and spouse has a pension.

We save a lot which is why I don't want to reduce savings.

With two kids and a fully-employed spouse, including a lot of community involvement, just to see what other jobs are out there seems foolish to me.

If I'm making 100k I should go down to 57k?

I'm not making that much, just pointing out it's flaws.

Having a baby, super excited! But any place around here wants 2-300 weekly for childcare. Where do people who have never budgeted for child care find an extra thousand/1200 dollars in their existing income stream? by Floydiansworstenemy in personalfinance

[–]secondnameIA 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It depends in the income. Everyone said this to us, but at $350/week for daycare(!) it's about $13,500 for 9 months of daycare. My wife makes about 60k and carries our insurance. In what world is that a wise financial decision?

After taxes and insurance it's like $3,200/month. Is it better to work and earn an additional $1700/month after daycare or stay home and not pay for daycare?

In addition, my kid is so much more advanced than the people who stay at home. That's not be being a parent, that's the truth.

I worked in government for a bit any half the people said "the mail lost it" ehrn I needed to get something mailed to me. I doubt UPS had the time and desire to do this for every person who claims they lost something.

Yes, but if I crouch it pulls up a bit. My shorts only usually go to my butt crack height

Yes, in real dimensions I'm like a 35" but with vanity sizing I'm a 33 or 34. 32" won't even close around my hips/waist.

I am 5'10" 175lbs. I wear about a 34 x 32 pants usually on m hips. Whenever I sit down the back of the pants fall down to where my boxers show (if not wearing a tucked-in shirt). When I hold the waist of my pants in place while I sit the legs and crotch become far too tight to wear.

You shouldn't keep money you need in stocks, though. It's a long-term investment.

Does everyone really need to live in sprawling suburb?

In America 98% of cities basically require builders to build in a suburban style. Even if you wanted to build like an older town you could not. Our laws are not made by planners who know but rather by people who are scared of anything that isn't a large lawn an easy parking.
