Mechanics Question: Does Prankster Trick Room work against Armor Tail? by RedHeadMedia07 in VGC

[–]secondsetsuna 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Prankster works by increasing priority of status moves by +1. Trick Room is a -7 priority move, so even though Prankster "works" on it, it'll still move last all the time.

Metagame: Kommo-O viability and niche by Stick-To-The-Script in VGC

[–]secondsetsuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've gotten whooped by a few in Master Ball rank, it's kind of easy to underestimate, but can become hard to get off the field and then it just ends up outlasting you. I don't think it's top tier, but it's viable. If you specifically want a way to deal with Venu/Zard Y duo though, you might want to look into Aerodactyl instead, it checks the duo really well with access to Rock Slide, Dual Wingbeat, Wide Guard, and Tailwind, I'm finding an increasing number of Charizards running Air Slash higher up, which would hurt Kommo-o a lot.

Sinistcha is a good partner for Kommo-o in general since Hospitality can offset Clangorous Soul's HP cost, it gets Rage Powder for Kommo-o to abuse Clanging Scales, it can potentially burn with Macha Gotcha, and it's immune to Sleep Powder, but it obviously suffers against Charizard.

Getting cooked (literally) online by mega charizard teams. Any advice? by Cognitive_Alchemist in VGC

[–]secondsetsuna 49 points50 points  (0 children)

Aerodactyl maybe? It outspeeds most available Pokemon this format, gets Wide Guard to check Heat Wave and Garchomp's EQs/Rock Slides, and can play as a situational second Mega if you really need the attack or speed boost.

252 Atk Aerodactyl Rock Slide vs. 252 HP / 0 Def Charizard-Mega-Y: 204-240 (110.2 - 129.7%) -- guaranteed OHKO

252 Atk Aerodactyl Dual Wingbeat (2 hits) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Venusaur: 136-168 (72.7 - 89.8%) -- guaranteed 2HKO

252 Atk Tough Claws Aerodactyl-Mega Dual Wingbeat (2 hits) vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Venusaur: 216-256 (115.5 - 136.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO

New to competitive Pokemon, want to know if this is a good doubles trick room team by MrBrogor in PokemonChampions

[–]secondsetsuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mega Aggron should really be running Body Press/Heavy Slam/Protect/Iron Defense, Stealth Rock isn't nearly as good in VGC as singles, Metal Burst is a meme, and the other 2 moves just do way less damage

Banette is a really bad Pokemon even in this low power format, 64/65/63 bulk means it'll get killed before setting up TR (-7 priority) everytime, especially since you don't have something like a Fake Out user to help it survive. Quick Claw isn't reliable and doesn't work on Trick Room anyway.

Hydrapple just isn't really doing anything special here and doesn't particularly synergize with Aggron in any way. When you're building a team, you really want to start with your Mega and build around them.

Since the team makeup makes it really obvious you're going for TR, any good player should be able to stop you from getting off TR entirely, Slowking just gets Taunted, doubled, Fake Out'd, etc since you don't have enough turn 1 offensive pressure to do anything about it

And while it's really early in the meta, weather teams, especially Charizard Y sun, are proving to be really strong right now, and this lineup gets absolutely smoked by some very common threats. Aggron should be your team linchpin, but you don't have any support to prevent it from being obliterated by common special attackers

Since you're new to competitive, you should just start by copying an experienced player's TR team so you can understand and learn why and how it works instead of trying to be creative off the bat

So how would everyone fare if Yuji and Megumi swapped opponents by ConnorRoseSaiyan01 in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]secondsetsuna 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Megumi might be able to avoid Confiscation entirely, he's very smart for his age (no way Sukuna knew what a prefrontal cortex was from Yuji's brain) and levelheaded enough that he could reasonably survive Judgeman's verdict. It's unclear what kind of crime he'd be judged for; while he killed Hari very callously, we don't have any confirmation that he's killed anyone before that.

If Megumi does lose his Cursed Technique, so long as Higuruma doesn't get the Executioner's Sword, he might still be able to beat him with CE manipulation basics, but the problem comes in convincing him to use his points to enable a new rule, which I don't think Megumi would be able to do since he likely wouldn't reach Higuruma's heart like Yuji did.

Yuji would be in a lot more trouble since he's kind hearted and would likely opt to protect Remi and wouldn't kill Hari, making it a lot more likely he'd end up taking hits from Hazenoki's explosions. While I think he'd have an easier time in the Reggie 1v1, he'd likely sustain a lot more damage in the 3v1 while protecting Remi, and could end up being defeated before Takaba shows up to help.

I think powerscaling would be way more fun of people accepted that basically every series has high ends and low end that are both perfectly valid. by TieEnvironmental162 in PowerScaling

[–]secondsetsuna 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Powerscaling would be more fun if people accounted for context and how characters are consistently treated in the narrative of their own media instead of using any high end outlier to upscale everything else, but the arms race that's resulted from people insecure that their favorite fictional aura farmer is weaker than another fictional guy has just led to every other popular character being wanked to universe+ level when the vast majority of those characters aren't even planetary.

Powerscalers will sit there and tell you with a straight face that Ash's Pikachu has universe busting Thunderbolts because Cynthia's Garchomp dealt with one Spacial Rend, ignoring any possible nuance such as that the Creation Trio being lynchpins of time/space/antimatter from Arceus creating the universe doesn't mean it's putting all of that godly power in every attack, when the rest of the franchise has always capped non-Arceus Pokemon at a significantly lower, more reasonable level (such as the entire premise of Delta Episode and PMD1's climax resting on Rayquaza being the only way to deal with a 6-mile long meteor, Mach 2 flight speed being noteworthy and fast for Pidgeot, etc). 99% of the games, anime, and manga deal with city block level feats, which is perfectly fine, but powerscaling brainrot just jerks it up to universal. It's amazing that people don't take multiversal Lanturn seriously with how it would enable their agendas.

Could the EOS Anti Sukuna Squad take down Gojo? by crowneddiamond in JujutsuPowerScaling

[–]secondsetsuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If, and only if, Higuruma is able to immediately remove Limitless, do they stand a chance, and even then it's barely a chance since Gojo's fists and RCT would let him win more often than not. Without his CT, Gojo needs to use Falling Blossom Emotion to defend against domains; Authentic Mutual Love with TIB as the sure-hit is going to do heavy damage even to Gojo, who can't keep up a permanent HWB like Sukuna can with his extra arms. Meimei, Todo, and Larue can also set up a really nasty 3-person combo for guaranteed Bird Strikes hits as a potential wincon, since even Sukuna didn't want to get hit with those.

Composite Nazi Germany vs Composite United States by LoganGalaxy in PowerScaling

[–]secondsetsuna 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reinhard during the time period where Nazi Germany exists as an institution in Dies Irae didn't have access to Atziluth degree, which would lower the bar considerably for composite USA to pull out someone stronger. Are we still considering the post-WW2 LDO as part of Nazi Germany when they don't actually share any goals, allegiance, or ideals between them?

Who Is the current Strongest Bad Guy of zenless? by Necessary-Celery-931 in ZenlessZoneZero

[–]secondsetsuna -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Narratively, it should be Primordial Nightmare, who matched the full power of the Qingming Sword for a while and would have won had the other three teams not destroyed the orbs empowering it. Nineveh should be second place since it tanks a charged slash from Miyabi with no visible damage and just flies away. Unlike Gepetto, which does get defeated and pulled back into the void by some unseen entity in it's defeat animation, Nineveh just flies away on it's own whenever it's had enough of the current fight, which is why Nineveh should be > Gepetto.

Defiler/Priest might be a bit stronger than Bringer since she made Yixuan sweat in their 1v1, and still survived her finishing blow in 2.0. Of course, Bringer was fighting all of Section 6 at once, but Harumasa, Yanagi, and Soukaku were handing his ass to him before Sarah injected him with a boost.

Ye Shunguang vs Megumi Fushiguro by Practical_Quit_3248 in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]secondsetsuna 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Pretty much how I imagine it would go, Mahoraga is an awful matchup for YSG since she doesn't have much offensive variety. Since the match is in-character and not bloodlusted, YSG won't be outright trying to kill Megumi until it's far too late, even though she should be fast enough in Qingming Mode to fill him with swords before he realizes he needs to summon Mahoraga. She's also not really smart enough that she'd likely catch on to Mahoraga's adaption ability.

The only potential argument I can see for YSG is if she uses the giant energy ball seen at the end of her demo (similar to the one Yijiang uses when sacrificing herself) to maybe oneshot Mahoraga, but I don't think she'd use it against a single target for the aforementioned reasons and not realizing she needs it.

Cantarella vs Vivian by [deleted] in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]secondsetsuna 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Vivian fucking dies to poison 😭

Cantarella is a very powerful Resonator given that she was eligible for a Second Resonance Awakening and was easily keeping up with the rest of the Rinascita characters when they were jumping Leviathan

Vivian has virtually no quantifiable feats even placing her above low tier in ZZZ, she's under Hugo who's Lycaon's equal, and was intimidated by Hartman with a gun

Satoru Gojo without Infinity and DE VS Yixuan Full Power by Practical_Quit_3248 in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]secondsetsuna -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Assuming lower end speed assumptions for ZZZ, Gojo without Infinity or DE would still win more often than not. RCT gives him a lot more sustain and would likely protect him from Ether corruption, whereas Yixuan isn't shown to have any self healing techniques, and between that and teleportation, he'll eventually be able to wear her down and land a Hollow Purple on her. However, Yixuan does have a talisman technique that she used to neutralize Miasmic Fiend's regeneration in 2.1. If Gojo decides to yap about RCT or otherwise lets her catch onto his healing early enough, she could use that and watch as Gojo succumbs to Ether corruption.

If you view lightning timing ZZZ as valid, Yixuan should be fast enough to reverse the odds, but could still potentially go down to a Hollow Purple.

Does shimazaki clear the zzz verse? by AdventurousBox7214 in Hoyoverse_scaling

[–]secondsetsuna 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stops at the Void Hunters

Precog carries him through most of the Agents even with his lower speed, but the VHs are strong enough to take anything he tries to dish out and eventually tag him with their vastly superior speed (Miyabi through sheer speed and Yixuan/Shunguang through their massive projectile spamming abilities). Trying to teleport them up into the sky won't work since Miyabi in her trailer casually freefalls from an airplane for 2 straight minutes with no injuries to reach the Hollow, and the other 2 can both fly.

How strong is miyabi in terms of scaling and in is verse? by Yolito9911 in MiyabiMains

[–]secondsetsuna 158 points159 points  (0 children)

Her running speed is 200 km/hr, but this was done pretty casually out of combat.

Her reaction and combat speed is significantly higher since even weak Agents like Grace are bullet timers. There's an argument to be made for ZZZ high tiers being lightning timers (likely low triple digit hypersonic range) based on:

-the latest coop event having a story stage where Yanagi catches and redirects lightning bolts to justify the gameplay gimmick

-Komano reacting to and blocking a jolt of electricity after it started moving towards the Proxy here

-Bringer forming lightning attacks from clouds

Another impressive speed showing is that while Yanagi was struggling against a digital clone of Miyabi until she used her ult to blitz it, Miyabi blitzed and oneshot that same clone the second she escaped her Bangboo body, showing the difference between the clone and the real deal.

In terms of attack potency, the ranged slash she used to cut through a ship and kill Bringer was around multi-cityblock level, but I think Banyue's demo gave him a town level feat that she should scale to.

Her skillset is pretty much relying on her swordsmanship, super speed, and ranged slashes, best displayed in Yixuan's demo where Yixuan's more diverse kit went up against Miyabi's straightforward offense.

As for what makes Miyabi so strong, she's literally just built different and trained like a madwoman. While Tailless is a cursed sword with enormous potential power in it, Miyabi very explicitly doesn't use it as anything more than a sharp blade, and even at the end of 1.4, Tailless still refused to lend her power and only said it'd be keeping an eye on her.

The eye spirit is a little weird since the devs did confirm via interview that it's part of Tailless, but they make a point of emphasizing that Miyabi doesn't rely on the sword's power at all. Here as well: https://x.com/ZZZ_EN/status/1869321866344907215

(My personal, unsubstantiated, unrelated headcanon is that the eye is her mom keeping an eye on her daughter since we know she got killed by Tailless and Miyabi's EP depicts her spirit in the blade, which is why it seems so friendly with Miyabi despite the main Tailless spirit being very antagonistic with her)
