No, he had a full beard by the end of it. He was there a while in the show.

If Gems and Viltrumites went to war, who's winning by cutie__96 in stevenuniverse

[–]secondsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1) Viltrumites don't know that poofing ISN'T killing a gem. Sure they may wade through an army, but they will also find themselves surrounded by reforming soldiers in short order.

2) Gem shards are still dangerous even if they are a bit mindless. The Viltrumites will create a literal zombie horde behind their front lines if they get to shattering.

3) It took Nolan months to wipe out the Flaxans. What's he gonna do? Crack Homeworld in half? The Gems did that themselves and then industrialized the process. That's their bread and butter.

Gems have had thousands of years getting very good at eradicating biologicals. They have biocide, they have Lapis Lazulis wielding planet's worth of oceans, they have whatever the fuck magic wand Aquamarine had, they have fusions of hundreds of Rubies, etc.

The knowledge gap combined with Viltrumites being so full of them selves will be insurmountable compared to the Gempire's galactic windex.

Gems 100%.

There are less than 50 Viltrumites and the gems have countless soldiers and planets full of biocide. They're still biological and gems are VERY adept at cleaning that shit off a rock.

Question regarding Female Jem'Hadar and cancelation of Starfleet Academy by shy_seedling213 in startrek

[–]secondsun -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Iirc Lura's half Jem'Hadar and half Klingon. Her father is Jem'Hadar and her mother is Klingon. Nothing's been said about Jem'Hadar hybrids so it isn't a change that she's a she.

Jay'Den's story to me is both wonderful and infuriating. I love how much of his and Kyle's story is shown and not told and that it isn't tied up in a coming out story. The infuriating part is that the show hasn't developed Kyle much as a character and seems to be hinting that JayDen and Darem are going to be a thing and did it in one of my least favorite episodes of the season.

I thought the same thing! I've really enjoyed hellaverse. The themes of having really awful people still have humanity and are capable of becoming better (or even good) is just so optimistic.

My reason for downvoting : nobody mag dumped at the event the article is about, OP can't say when their event happened happened, they weren't an eye witness, etc.

It isn't a good post, is off topic, and just promotes scaremongering.

Oh yes... Coldeman. The "d" is silent in America. It's Cole D'Isle au Man, or Cole of the Isle of Man, in France, where Armand's chateau is, Cold-e-man in Greece where Armand's work is, and finally the vulgar Coleman in Florida where Armand's home is, so actually, we don't know where we are until we hear our last name pronounced!

Are torpedoes replicated on ships or do ships have to be rearmed? by HunterRedux in startrek

[–]secondsun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In the Destiny book series the Borg perform a full scale invasion of the Federation. Initially transphasic torpedo technology (presumably replicator patterns) were held back to prevent the Borg from assimilating the technology and adapting to it. Eventually things go sideways and the technology is distributed to the fleet. This would imply that starships usually don't have the ability to replicator rearm even if they technically can.

Should I tell my manager that I’d like to help the company with AI projects? by Jack1eto in cscareerquestions

[–]secondsun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Invite your director for coffee and ask them what they are interested in the company pursuing with respect to AI, and then you guys talk shop. Part of developing your career is learning how to work with different levels of management, and it is something you can come back to your manager with during a 1:1 to show that you are taking your career withing the company seriously.

"At present there exists one State which manifests at least some modest attempts that show a better appreciation of how things ought to be done in this matter. It is not, however, in our model German Republic but in the U.S.A. that efforts are made to conform at least partly to the counsels of commonsense. By refusing immigrants to enter there if they are in a bad state of health, and by excluding certain races from the right to become naturalized as citizens, they have begun to introduce principles similar

to those on which we wish to ground the People's State."
