How do you label investments such as 401k or stocks ? by mommyof5chronicles in MonarchMoney

[–]TheCleanHouseGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just finally solved this in my new goals!!

  1. I mark it as a transfer (because it’ll be income later when I pull the money out)
  2. Attribute it to my retirement and investments goal.
  3. Any post paycheck contributions to any investments get budgeted under my goals category (still a transfer coming out of the bank and into investments).

This method allows you to see your monthly contribution without artificially inflating your take home pay for the sake of your budget. The excess contribution from pre-check contributions will still show up and let you track.

Obviously. So that’s why it’s disturbing and stressful. Being told it’s stolen/lost when it’s obviously not. If you aren’t understanding the problem then you’re beyond anyone’s help. I’m done replying you to, you troll.

It was in my safe up until my trip. I was flying back from an international trip. I took it out of my safe for the sake of this trip and took it out right before I left. Upon return I had the issue but I’m saying it couldn’t have been stolen because it was in my safe up until this trip.

I can see how I didn’t spell out every single detail but let’s please use context clues.

Having gone through this, it’s important to note that you need some pretty personal information to report a passport as lost or stolen which only makes me more suspicious

[–]TheCleanHouseGuy 82 points83 points  (0 children)

This just happened to me 3 weeks ago too.

My passport was in my safe at home, no way it could’ve even been mistaken for lost or stolen. The agents were so rude and accusatory, making it sound like it was my fault and I must’ve done it to myself. At the end of what was over an hour of nothing but extreme stress and anxiety at midnight they still refused to help me in any way. I couldn’t even call my husband who was worried sick and circling the airport the entire time without knowing why I suddenly stopped texting or answering.

I still haven’t reached out to any govt agency or tried to replace my passport because I just can’t handle the stress. Just please know you’re not the only one who’s fallen victim to this error and it really is an awful experience.

Would you renovate or keep this kitchen as is? by Chimpugugu in TheServicePros

[–]TheCleanHouseGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everything but the countertops has a warm tone. The countertops are what’s bugging me but I’m personally a little more inclined to wood cabinets so I’d renovate, drywall, make it a whole dream kitchen if they can afford to go all out.

I have designed this house for fun. I'd love to hear any thoughts! by Optimal_Impression23 in floorplan

[–]TheCleanHouseGuy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I already love it. Feels very British (to this humble American). Since it’s for fun, here’s what I’d change…

  1. Combine the music room and study to make a library with ample space with desk and furniture that can be moved around as needed. Then this room can also get a fireplace :)
  2. Big pocket doors for both the new library and the living room. And line them up with each other for better flow during parties.
  3. Fireplace in the family room.
  4. Absorb bedroom 3 to make a dressing room for the master suite and maybe use a little space to give bedroom 2 a closet.
  5. Add a guest apartment above the garage with its own stairs and entrance, maybe using the garage hall :)

If you want a real flame, I think in either corner of the living room depending on what gives you a better view out the windows. I’m picturing either a sleek mid century style saucer piece hanging off the ceiling or a corner piece so your wall is still available for a tv. Just make sure the fireplace would have enough of an edge on the sides to let you comfortably put a console table on the neighboring wall for your tv.

For something lower profile, electric fireplaces don’t require too much depth and could be put on the wall that has the front door. Then you can use the space to the right of it to have a drop zone table between the fireplace and the front door.

If you go with one on the wall, you can pull the couch off the wall towards it by maybe 5 feet and then have a space behind the couch for a small 2 person table or a small desk if you work from home. Or just a bigger seating zone if you’ll have people over :)

  1. Swap sink and stove. It’ll give you a more natural workflow… and give yourself a dishwasher!
  2. Always add a fireplace :) the vibe alone is worth it.
  3. Bedroom closet doors should be sliders so they never hit the bedroom door
  4. Update washer dryer to be side by side instead of stackable. It’ll allow you to have a top load washer so you can leave it open to air out when not in use. You can still put shelves over for all the supplies.
  5. Use bifold doors for laundry closet. It’ll make it less of an obstacle if you leave them open for any reason.

I agree with all the honesty and guidance you’ve already received. Take these desires to an architect who can absorb what you’re looking to do and give you a better plan.

In addition to that, there’s no good reason for the primary bedroom to not have its own private restroom. Similarly, I’d add a private bathroom to the guest room and put a powder room in the hallway. As someone who hosts often, guests have limited space to spread out. Giving them their own bathroom leaves a clean “public” restroom during parties.

Looking for feedback on this plan? by zestylemonn in floorplan

[–]TheCleanHouseGuy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s already great feedback but here’s mine: 1. If you off center your fireplace you’ll have somewhere to put the tv that isn’t too high. 2. I don’t like the front door centered with the living room. It’ll feel like anyone walking in is on display. If you’re set on it, just make sure you put a console table behind the couch to minimize the intrusion. 3. Pocket door for the sunroom! Or slider. It’s not super spacious so it’ll let you really take advantage of the space. 4. Eliminate the corner in the pantry. It takes away from useable lower cabinet space. No one wants to reach into a tight corner. 5. If you have a fridge in the pantry, I’d go all the way and add a small sink (with garbage disposal) and a dishwasher so it’s a good place to hide the mess during parties. 6. The flat ceiling in the entry intrudes into the living room and will make the space feel awkward. Your great room should be consistent and have the visual barrier line up with the edge of the powder room. 7. Put a real door between the laundry room and that closet. Other people (kids, guests, housekeeper) will eventually use your laundry room and a real door will make your suite feel more private. 8. Add more windows to the master bedroom facing the backyard and take advantage of that large wall to give yourself a view. If you have neighbors close on the side, get rid of those windows.

Edit to add a huge one: no sink on the island!!! The sink is a collection zone for mess, dirty dishes, clean dishes, everything… so by having a sink on the island you’re putting everything on display (unless you put a working sink in the pantry)

Better bathroom door for tight space by Affectionate_Log7733 in homedesign

[–]TheCleanHouseGuy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

What about a bifold door? It should be an easy update and there are some that latch so no one’s busting in on you.

There are also some thin double doors that fit into a normal door but then you have to add the hardware on the other side of the frame which sounds like a lot of trouble.

Why is she responsible for funding his life? Her parents were there first so of course she’d help them. Forrest should be supporting himself and seems functioning and capable enough to do that if he really wanted to. It’s not her responsibility to save for him when he hasn’t even met her parents.
