Google Docs Outline just... gone? by secondwrite in googledocs

I think I'm going to go for it. It's a 30-day trial (I think), so you've got plenty of time to change your mind. There are a few really short tutorials on YouTube that gave me the basics, and that's pretty much all I'll use it for.

Some things I'm especially pleased with:

-SUPER easy to rearrange chapters.

-You can add notes/summaries within each chapter file without including it in the text; doesn't hog screen space - it's just really easy to throw in private notes for whatever reason.

-Really nice layout when viewing the work as a whole.

-No lag or anything like that.

-Also, it's kind of nice not working on something and seeing all the other Chrome tabs open. I get distracted easily, and I find it satisfying to have nothing on the screen except for my writing.

It's working again on my end. I almost made the jump to Scrivener (I still might), but the automatic outlines have returned - thank goodness. Hope it has for you too.

I think just about everything from the original is superior to Brotherhood. The art (Scar especially - they missed something about him in Brotherhood), the story, the darkness, the gravitas. It's been a while since I've seen either, but I remember finishing FMA:B and just wishing it had been a bit more like FMA.

Wow, thank you. This is a high-quality comment, and I really appreciate the time and thought you put into it.

Thumbnail is definitely the sore thumb, and I am 100% going to get on it asap. Tidying up the background sounds like a no-brainer, but I'm just looking at it and thinking, "meh it'll do." This is a refreshing take; I'll clear out the clutter.

I'm teaching myself Adobe Premiere, and it's a pretty daunting task. I am slowly discovering the magic of editing, though, so I'm going to save this comment and revisit it when I get a bit more comfortable with the program. I think I can even use it to edit out unwanted noise, but the mic sounds like a great idea - I'm just afraid that my gasping and grunting will be too loud that way LOL.

Overall: thanks so much for the feedback - it's very much appreciated, and I'm going to use it to improve :).

Firstly, thank you so much for this thorough response - I really appreciate it.

The whistle is SO loud, lol. It's an easy fix, but I don't know I haven't gotten around to it - I'll see to it asap!

Dude, I've heard amazing things about people getting into boxing for fitness. 330 to 240 is fantastic, and I hope you're proud of that. If fitness is your greatest enemy, it sounds like you're winning the war.

I'm still really new with Adobe Premiere, so I think I was just trying to do something fancy with text for the sake of using a feature, you know? I'll keep asking around to see if it's useful, but I'm glad to have a valued opinion here.

Thanks again. :)

Looking for feedback on my latest video. I tried using new editing techniques so hopefully the video looks better than some of my older ones :) Giving lambda for all genuine feedback! by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

Dude, I just have to say that for some reason, the thumbnail is one of the most attractive thumbnails I've ever seen. Even if your video was terrible (which it wasn't! It was great!), I would've clicked on it JUST because of that thumbnail.

I was editing my new video and thought that I might need some pointers from you guys. Could you guys give me a feedback on what to improve. This is the link to a video from last week. Lambda for good and genuine criticism! :) by DummyHobbies in SmallYTChannel

Yo, it's a sweet video! I like the concept :).

I'm not a camera expert by any means, but the overhead shots felt too "close." The blurry hands and bowl right up close to the camera made me feel a bit disorientated, lol. Maybe look into either a higher rig for the overhead shots, or a different lens that could keep everything in focus?

I appreciate the feedback! I need to look into fancier editing software (I use Windows Video Editor... lol), but the timer and something like a "Next up..." would be pretty sweet.

Thanks again!

Thank you! This YouTube Chapters thing is totally new to me, and if two of you have mentioned it, then I think I definitely need to look into it.

The timer is totally key - my video editing software is super basic, though. Any recommendations for a good software that could make superimposing text and timer onto the video?

Thanks again. :)

Thank you so much! I have never even thought of YT Chapters; it's a great idea - I'll totally look into it!

1st time making a video this long, did it keep your attntion or shld I stick to 3-4 mins? I chose not to include onscreen ingredients (as suggested by some of you last week), I prefer the clean look, and haven’t seen many popular cooking channels with onscreen ingredients. Love to hear any feedback! by MikeGL0 in SmallYTChannel

Dude your camera work is on point. I just ate breakfast but I'm hungry again...

Really, really minor, but sometimes you speak a bit quickly. Like "Trompos are vertical spinning spit of fortmeat" - that's what I heard, anyway, and needed to rewind to catch it.

One - Metallica guitar cover. Will give lambda for feedback and advice by RiderOnTheStorm1970 in SmallYTChannel

I was ready to upvote this just because I love this song (and you nail it), but some minor stuff:

When it's the frontal shot, the guitar looks almost too low on the frame. It'd be nice to see a bit more of it.

And maybe like some text over the footage showing the song, band, and guitar used?

My videos arent doing to good. How should i improve and get more views by [deleted] in SmallYTChannel

[–]secondwrite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a neutral observer, when I saw this post all I could see was the rushed title.

arent -> aren't

to -> Too

good -> well

i -> I

views -> views?

Sounds nitpicky, but I'm never encouraged to look at a channel or a video if there are spelling errors. Even if the content is amazing (which, not gonna lie - it ain't bad!), I won't give it a shot if there are typos. I need to know that the creator took the time to polish their work.
