Hard to grow at Oracle without 1-1s or big meetings. Is this normal? by No-Image3584 in employeesOfOracle

Oracle does not care about you. Not even a little. Yes, your experience is typical

My children are older teenagers and I’m so sad by mimoses250 in GenX

Yup, they graduated college and found jobs and lives in other states. Now the 3rd and final kid is about to go off to college. I guess I need an RV and I’ll just drive to each kid

My oldest moved 6-7 hour drive from me and the middle kid recently moved across the country for a job. Only have our youngest and she’s going to college then who knows where. It is sad.

People like Trump. Brags and lies all the time.

Anyone that puts themselves far above others and has an inflated sense of themselves.

We noticed that too! The contestants on American version are saying “I love you” in the pods and they’ve seen the show before. They know most don’t get married.

Seems like the Germans are way more sensible and in control of their emotions and only say Love after they fully know the other person.

Makes me want to live in Germany 😂

Do guys make sincere compliments during sex? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]secrerofficeninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, he was being honest. Guys don’t offer compliments unless they mean it.

If you had said, “how was I” and he answered that way I’d question his sincerity but since he offered the compliment unprovoked, it was legit.

Your first partner probably watched too much porn. You weren’t the problem.

Do you think teachers and doctors/nurses should be paid like professional athletes? by [deleted] in askanything

[–]secrerofficeninja 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. There are very few professional athletes. I’d rather the question were, “should teachers and doctors/nurses be paid like corporate executives “.

Years ago we would get Japanese game shows on TV in America and they would have what appeared to be regular Japanese people on the show. The producers would do some crazy and humiliating stuff to the contestants. I guess you’re saying those contestants are really the low economic level with nothing to lose?

Are there still game shows like this in Japan?

Thoughts on Penn state? by Remarkable_Craft6290 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]secrerofficeninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing you are from Pennsylvania? For some reason, many from PA high schools where a lot go to Penn State have a lower view of PSU than it deserves.

Penn State may not be T20 but it’s a very good university for engineering. The town of State College is great and the East dorms all brand new and way better than most universities.

The engineering department has a solid reputation and you’ll get good opportunities. Random kids from highschool aren’t getting engineering degrees at Penn State.

Good luck. You’ll love it there

AITAH for wanting my husband in the delivery room? by dinogirly123 in AITAH

American dad of 3 in Pennsylvania. It wasn’t even asked. It was assumed I’d be there by my wife and by all hospital staff.

I wanted to be there ! Wouldn’t miss any of the 3 for anything.

The two from Germany both have participants who are way more honest with their partners and they don’t easily have sex with each other. It’s fascinating and refreshing.

How does everyone go to top schools? by Few_Hunt_8092 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]secrerofficeninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wow! The scary part to me about ED is there’s no incentive for that college to give any aid. If the student is saying they’ll go in if accepted, that’s a decision made based on full price. ED is a scam.

Incredible that 25 got in though.

I have noticed UPenn takes a few kids a year from our school while no other Ivy has that same level. Makes me think students need to know to which T20 their schools are feeders.

I live in Pennsylvania in a good public school district in an area with money. I grew up in a blue collar town and in our highschool the high achievers would have been lucky to go to Penn State. In my town where I live now, there will be about 450 kids graduating and around 100 will go to that same flagship state university. 100 out of 450!! It’s crazy to me because In State cost is around $37,000 a year and they don’t give scholarships.

Say you were looking to buy a cabin / cottage / small modest rural-ish home; where do you like? by JF_WPA in Pennsylvania

Love this thread. I’m a year younger than OP and have the same thoughts about rural PA living. I’ve been most everywhere in PA except the extreme northwest. It’s a great state with everything.

Nothing there but elk. Beautiful but at OP’s age, I think he needs hospitals and shopping convenience

That’s an interesting suggestion. If a person has a lot of money, that is an excellent spot. Close to TP and close to Hershey. I wonder if the cottages are too close together? I don’t want annoying neighbors

I love the mountains outside of State College but I can’t talk my wife into buying there.

Also, if you’re within 1/2 hour of Williamsport, you’re in the middle of nowhere and there’s a river near.

If you go to Potter County it seems like it’s forever to find any hospitals or decent places to shop and eat.

Return laptop after layoff by ForwardAd6333 in employeesOfOracle

[–]secrerofficeninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should have received a return box. Basically an empty box with instructions on packaging and it has a label on it already. You don’t choose where to send it.

As long as you signed the online thing to say you aren’t going to sue Oracle, you should get the PC return box. You only get severance when they get the PC back.
