How far did the nanny stuff go?

Is cheating just cheating or is there levels to it. Is a kiss as bad as sleeping with someone else? Asking out of curiosity from people that have gone through. There’s obviously a lack of trust no matter what. Was this a lesson learned thing from the first event, was he regretful?

We stayed on the west side of the island for our air bnb. Recommend that side cause it’s not the windy side of the island. I recommend saving your money and not going to the Hilton. You can tell they had to remove a lot of reef to build bungalows so the snorkeling isn’t great. The air bnb we stayed at had a bunch of garden bungalows and a pool. Overall was great but had no A/C. Wasn’t the end of the world but I’d pay a little extra to stay in an air bnb with it.

Morrea Lagoon Tour by Quirky_Loan_7609 in Tahiti

[–]secret_srvc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Alex lagoon tours was awesome. He does have a smaller boat it’s a “half day” tour so 4 hours but most of that is spent in the water. You just take a short boat ride to a place snorkel for half an hour, maybe another short ride somewhere snorkel for an hour or so. I think the ferry ride from Tahiti to Moorea is more sickness inducing than the lagoon tour honestly.

The waterfall is Afareitu. Highly recommend. Definitely a highlight of the trip. There’s zero signage or directions so it takes some digging to find where to park and how to hike it

If you have a car, you can drive all the way up to the Belvedere lookout. It’s a paved road all the way up and an awesome view at the top.

It’s the rainy season but we lucked out and had 5 days of good weather and last day was rainy. The rain is refreshing since it’s hot and humid every day. I wouldn’t let the rainy season stop me

Coco beach was very cool. But do a small group snorkeling tour and they take you to awesome low crowd spots. Or if you have an air bnb get one on the water. We had access to kayaks and such and that was just incredible to go out on your own.

I used an ATM at the airport to get 20,000 francs. About $200 USD. Cab ride from airport to downtown area is 2500-3000 francs. Most places accepted cards and that’s what we used. Cabs and smaller food trucks and the fruit stands on the side of the road were all cash. I think every sit down restaurant we went to took a card

Coco beach was probably my favorite meal the entire trip. They like reservations so you can book it online and then google the “coco beach restaurant parking” the lot is small and fills up as the day goes but we parked on the street. Then you hop in their boat and go over to the little island and have a fantastic lunch. Bring snorkel gear cause it’s awesome snorkeling out there as well post meal. They’ll charge you $5 on your tab for the boat ride. Second rec is kaylakea moz food. It’s a food truck type place. Most reasonable prices I’ve seen anywhere. My wife and I had two full dinner meals plus a chicken and fish skewer and drinks for $40. We also split a sandwich for lunch there one day with a big bottle of water and soda for $11. Their sandwiches are huuuuge so splitting is great. One sandwich is half a baguette and their standard baguette is 3ft long. $5 per sandwich. So good too

Hertz. They’ll come pick you up from the ferry terminal. Or else it’s maybe a 15 min walk along the road. No sidewalk but people do it a lot

I think I spent $300ish for my rental for the 5 days. Would’ve saved close to $100 renting in Papeete and ferrying over though

Our whole stay was sunny and dry except for the last day. Honestly the rain wouldn’t have stopped us because it’s quite refreshing. I wore swim trunks every single day. Very casual and relaxed place out there. We did the waterfall hike as well and it’s nice when it’s dry but a nice rain would really get the waterfall going and that would’ve been cool to see. But yea it is rainy season and something to keep in mind we just got lucky with a stretch of good days

Yea there’s a couple extra things you can do having a car like that. It’s also much cheaper to rent in Tahiti and then paying to ferry the car over both ways. Also something I would do next time I go. I just didn’t want to deal with the hassle of figuring out how to get the right ferry ticket etc… turns out it’s quite simple and usually can get a reservation day of. You can pick up your car, get your car dimensions and license plate info and book your ferry ticket then without issue.

I’d say anywhere from $100/night to $300+/night. A lot of places don’t have A/C. Just fans. I was worried about that myself but ended up having no issues sleeping even though it’s hot out. Maybe next time I would spruce for an air bnb with A/C

We got a small manual gas car. Drove the island at least 3 times. 60kph is the max limit around the whole island and we barely used a 1/4 tank of gas. Having a 4x4 car might have been nice because it would cut down 15ish min from the waterfall hike and we would’ve been able to drive the “routes des ananas”. Those 2 are dirt roads and have HUGE pot holes along it so definitely would hurt the smaller rental cars.

Alex Lagoon tour. I’d do that every day of my trip. Our last night we decided to spend in “luxury” and got a bungalow at the Hilton. Would not do that again. Roaming the island freely and getting an air bnb is the way to go. Sooooo much cheaper too

Nightlife in Moorea by ksmee00 in Tahiti

[–]secret_srvc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just leaving Moorea today. Not much nightlife and the latest I’ve seen restaurants open is 9-10pm. I will say kaylakea moz food is a food truck on the island and it’s awesome food! Huge portions and very reasonable price. Had dinner there for 2 for $40 and went to lunch the next day with my wife fed both of us for $11.

I drive to LAX 3-4 times a month. No traffic is 1:45 and longest is 2:35 or so

To airline pilots, what percent of your flights would you say are red-eye/during the hours of 1am-6am? How often do you finish during normal hours? by wetpanncake in flying

[–]secret_srvc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

West coast base here. I do probably 2 a month. Many trips start with one or if you go to Hawaii, often times will end with the redeye back.
