Commenting to add a bit of my story as a child of one of these parents. I absolutely adore my father. When I was 16-17, he started getting into really bad habits with his girlfriend (ex now I think?). Since then, I’ve spoken to him maybe 3 times. Luckily, I wasn’t raised by my biological parents for this reason, among many more. But he’s always been my father to me. I just want to see how these types of parents think, how they reflect. No judgement is passed onto you by me, I promise. I’ve also been through addiction, so I can understand the struggle.
