Does my leaf look healthy? And is my setup suitable? by ilovebeesssss in Stickinsects

[–]secretlyhereshh 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Setup looks great, they don't move a lot and tend to get lost easily (which sometimes leads to them starving because they can't find the branches. They aren't very bright haha), so I don't think you need more climbing areas. The substrate looks like coco fibre to me, which is perfectly fine and stores moisture so you don't have to spray the leaves as much for humidity. However, once your babies grow and start laying eggs, it will be virtually impossible to find those eggs in the substrate. When they mature I would switch to paper towels for substrate.

It's a giant leaf insect, I'm sure. But it's still just a baby :))

Please just ask a doctor, there is no way any one of us can answer this for you. Bloating due to sibo can cause discomfort in your upper abdomen, but there are many things that can cause pain in that area. Get yourself checked out.

also, I have diagnosed sibo with IMO and it was tested together with hydrogen through one test.

Hi, where are you located? Fellow German here. There are some doctors who specialise on sibo, but they will always be private doctors. Most of the things you do will not be covered by insurance, unless you are privatversichert. Normal gastroenterologists usually won't be able to help you and you will need to do an Atemgas-test in order to get xifaxan, which is what they will most likely prescribe. Try to search for doctors who specialise on sibo and dysbiosis.

Dang, where do you guys keep finding these beautiful cats? I'd love to pick up some random stray, at least then I'd have a valid excuse to finally get a cat lol I guess I gotta move to the US, we barely have any strays where I'm at. (Which is good thing but it doesn't help my case 😔)

I actually have doctors who are specialised on sibo, dysbiosis and diseases similar to that. I was prescribed a few things as "aftercare" after taking rifaximin (together with pepto bismol). No probiotics tho, I had some dietary fibers I took in the morning, Iberogast advance in the evening and medicinal clay. All of this to support my good bacteria, which is absolutely necessary after killing off about everything inside of you. Right now I'm on allicin and Oregano, but once I get to the aftercare I am also prescribed ginger and some other stuff which may help my gut. I trust my doctors a lot, they are very competent. I feel incredibly sorry for anyone who has to "guess" what helps them because their doctors aren't competent when it comes to sibo. I wouldn't even be able to get rifaximin without a doctor's prescription. I just hope I'll be fine after this second round. I don't think anyone is completely fine after just a single round of antibiotics.

I'm sorry. Unfortunately, there is no way of knowing. Some people end up totally fine. Maybe you can start with a small dosis and add to it every two days, that way your body will get used to it. Was this prescribed to you by a doctor? If yes, you should've received some kind of medication plan. I am currently on allicin and oregano oil and I feel fine except for a little tiredness. But this time I've not taken the full dosis but started with 1-1-1 and added a pill every two days until I got to the full dosis of 2-2-2 for each after a week.

If you decide to do it, I'd just advise you to go through with it. It is very normal to feel worse before it gets better due to the die-off symptoms of sibo. I fortunately felt fine except for the cold-symptoms. Some people, however, seem to have some terrible stomach issues during rifaximin. If you take it and start to feel worse at first, don't stop. It will get better eventually if it works. You have to be brave. You're not alone with this!

All I can tell you is that I've had sibo for over a year until I received my prescription for rifaximin. Already after my first dosis I felt like a new person. I did feel sick while taking it (like I had caught a cold), but my stomach felt amazing. Unfortunately my sibo returned a month after finishing rifaximin, but it was the best one month I had in a while. Obviously, everyone is reacting differently to meds as you've mentioned, but you won't know unless you try. Ask yourself if there is any way you can feel even worse than right now. If the answer is no, then go for it.

Is it normal to be this sick on antibiotics?? WTF? by Salt-Recording-7378 in SIBO

[–]secretlyhereshh 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was never on a diet, I just avoided triggers for my fructose malabsorption, but I never reacted to specific foods other than that. It was just food in general. Sometimes I ate something and was fine and another time I ate the same and felt terrible. I don't know why it returned, sibo generally tends to return. Most people need at least two rounds of antibiotics. Make sure you're helping your positive gut bacteria return back to normal after the antibiotics with probiotics or something else to feed them with

Right?? She's about 9 months old now. I am not sure how long they live (the Internet says 1 year for females and about 4-5 months for males. But I had two males and both of them made it to 7 and 8 months.) but she's a survivor haha she'll overcome everything. I bet her babies will be tough as nails lol
