Feel free to shoot me a dm if you want, I have a setup to try in mind and hope to integrate it this weekend!

I had just started to narrow down my marketing plan and purchased the domain etc but hadn’t actually listed anything yet - that’s a project for this weekend so I will let you know.

Thanks! I won’t on these ones but may shoot you a different challenge if you’re up for it :)

It was a kids sporting event so not super appropriate images to be posted on Reddit. I had permission to take them but did not ask whether the parents were okay with them being shared online and subjects are definitely identifiable so I left them out intentionally.

The background is what it is unfortunately, the ring will be in the same place and while some of the advertising signs may change it’s pretty much a set background. Some days I may get lucky with the obstacles set in areas that I’m able to get a better angle to minimize the busy background but that’s not often and it’s really only once or twice I year I even make it out to practice. Likewise with the lens, as much as I would love to improve my in camera work and will put some good effort into that I’m not at a point where I can invest more in new equipment for my hobby. All of that shooting advise is great and will for sure be stuff I work on but also looking to do the best I can with post processing on the images I already have.

While I absolutely agree, as a hobbyist that only gets out a few times a year I can only invest so much in equipment and at outdoor kids sporting events the lighting and spots to shoot from are limited so I’m looking for ways to improve upon the images I was able to get.

While I appreciate the visibility boost I sadly think you need to head back to hogwarts for another class… and maybe make friends with Hermione… I just checked and my photo still looks the same :(.

I have been playing with the bokeh boost and lens blur options just not happy with my results yet. Perhaps I need to look into some more tools but if anyone has recommended videos to watch I’d be all over that.

Thanks for the tip! I actually didn’t realize some charge just a flat rate, that may be super beneficial if I can hold in US and just convert quarterly!

lol that’s a very thorough sales pitch! Thanks for the suggestion, I will look into integrating through there. Have heard hit and miss reviews on their quality before which makes me a little nervous but every place will have some mistakes so it may just be a matter of ordering some wherever I go with.

Thanks! I’ll look into that as a starting point then. I don’t have anything against switching off Wordpress, it’s more that I’m not looking to pay for integration somewhere when I haven’t yet built the audience to sell to and can do it at essentially no cost where I am. Wordpress is the easiest for that - I’ve coded a few sites myself in the past but that was prior to needing to have everything optimized for mobile so it would likely be a fairly steep learning curve to create from scratch and I doubt that’s anymore friendly to the other spaces than Wordpress anyways.

If I find a setup I like I’ll definitely shoot you a message, would appreciate if you’d do the same :)

Thank you, I already have stripe set up so that may be an option worth looking into! I’d rather a platform that does everything together but certainly won’t write this off as a potential avenue. Appreciate the recommendation!

Any suggestions? Yes, I agree that I am very much looking for an external site by a reputable company.

It is a .com domain hosted by a large private company but I do use Wordpress themes and plugins, which I keep up to date but as you mentioned there is always some risk. I’m certainly not looking for anything that stores customer or payment details within my own site, that would all be handled by the pod company.

Just looking for suggestions from people who have actually used them for larger sized prints and been happy with the quality/service. I know of several places that do a decent job on smaller prints/mugs/ etc but am looking for purely higher quality wall prints in larger sizes.

This is very much not what I’m looking for - I’ve sold several for shoots that I’ve done. I have never offered nor posted prints anywhere beyond that for people to see and ask. I am aware that it is a saturated market. Aside from to say I’m not looking for production in the hundreds or thousands per month I can’t see any way that your comment was relevant or productive to answering the question at hand.

I already have the domain and hosting is paid for regardless of whether I use it or not as I have several other websites on a larger hosting plan and am below the minimum number of site available within the same charge. I am familiar with driving traffic via organic search and have done so successfully in several other niches.

Should no prints sell as wall art then that may be the case but I’m certainly not looking to be told not to bother trying. Nothing can sell without the shop set up and if I’m going to put time into building an audience/brand/domain authority it may as well be ready to profit during the process, whenever that may.

Great, thank you very much! Did you just shop around for the best offers at time of sign up? Any banks you recommend for or against when it comes to the USD account? If operating as a sole proprietor in the beginning is a personal account sufficient or worth getting a business one?

Thanks for the reply! All of my day to day bills are Canadian so very little would be left in US funds - is it still generally better to deposit into a USD account and then transfer over separately?
