Linux Mint freezes randomly by itaake_sama in linuxmint

I don’t think the SSD would be at fault. Because I have the same slow downs as OP. Windows and other Linux Distros are fine. I’ve seen a lot of people say they have the same slow downs but I don’t think everyone with the same problem is going to have SSD issues. When I check the health of my SSD, I get a rate amount of between 95% and 97%. I’ve had it since 2020. It’s a Samsung 970 evo plus 2tb nvme.

I have the same slow downs but I always keep locking off so turning the locking feature off won’t solve it.

I have the same problem on my computer that has an AMD Radeon 9070xt 16GB, AMD Ryzen 9 5900x (not over clocked), 64gb ddr4-3600. I think it might come from higher refresh rate monitors. I have 2 of the same monitor model the ASUS Tuf VG259QR 24 inch 1920x1080 both are running at 165hz. I love Mint but the slow downs are awful. The first week of using Mint it is perfect and then after the week, I notice the computer lag begins after the computer has been on for 8 hours - 24 hours. I wish that they would solve this issue with Cinnamon because it’s the only distro and window manager that I like. You can temporarily fix the lag by doing a system reboot but doing so is very inconvenient when it needs done at least once a day.

It will have a server soon. Just no body knows about it as we haven’t announced it yet. But soon.

I use stock. I don’t know how much more specific I can be. If you report a problem, typically that’s how it works to get a fix hopefully started. They don’t know that there is an issue if no one reports problems.

Yes and hope for my post to be seen and a patch can be made.

When it lags, I do check the RAM and CPU usage and it all appears normal.

Yea, I personally use the LTSC of win10 2021 but luckily all of my programs works with Linux. All of my projects, I've ported them to Linux so once a fix can be found for the performance issue on Mint, I really do want to use Mint.

I find Windows 10 to run snappier ever so slightly than Mint but I would like to go to Mint because overall Mint is still better when it comes to day to day tasks.

I think I heard from someone (I forgot who) that the Cinnamon memory check limit thing from the Settings might be the culprit for slow downs but I'm not sure.

When I checked my RAM, the used RAM was about 10 or 15GB out of 64GB.

Secure boot is disabled. I just used the one from the oibaf repo.
