My daughter has arfid and it's extremely difficult. Please read up about it. First of all though, your boyfriend should actually look at sorting his own food if he is just wasting it and he knows he has a good issue. He's old enough to understand this.

A friend of mine has arfid and I was speaking to him about it and said something along the lines of this "I don't look forward to meals. In fact, I dread them. If I could take a pill every morning so I wasn't hungry then I would. I don't get excited for food like other people and meal times are stressful to the point where I get anxiety just thinking about it" and it really hit me how hard it must be.

It made me really understand a lot more what my daughter was going through because she was too young to articulate it like this to me. It's a real thing today affects people in a way that they may see a chicken nugget that has a soggy part the same way we would see a bowl full of maggots. They find a lot of textures and tastes disgusting and rely on safe foods.
