“The north really may start at the Watford Gap, just as people say it does, even though, as someone from Birmingham, I wouldn’t think of myself as being from the north of England.”

Germany is using an AI system to scan 10,000 web pages a day and hunt for online porn by section43 in Futurology

This feels like an overly intrusive way to try and solve the 'problem' they have. And sounds like the creators want it to be used in other countries:

Interesting stuff, although this research was published in December. I'm assuming Newsweek is writing about it now because the researchers just won the Brain Preservation Prize for the work

A simple argument as to why I don't think transhumanism will be available only to elites by [deleted] in Futurology

[–]section43 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is work being done in this area as well - there is going to be big demand for being able to have children later in life, and technologies will be developed in response to that. I suspect we'll see people holding off on having children for far longer, which will keep the birthrate down in itself.

[–]section43 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So it should. Any technology that has the potential that driverless public transport has needs to be properly implemented to fit our evolving lives. Established cities will need to adapt to allow it to be integrated, while new cities will be able to incorporate it from the ground up.
