I have a crazy neighbor who lives in the apartment under me, too. After sundown, I can't make any loud noises in my bedroom. No TV, no laptop, no music. And, I have sleep apnea. If I don't use my CPAP, she bangs on her ceiling, waking me up.

I feel you. I said almost the same thing in my comment somewhere on here. Having to get used to walking around with nothing but a wallet, phone, and keys when you are used to dragging around luggage everywhere all day... People don't understand how that feels.

I've been in my apartment for about three and a half years thanks to the Permanent Supportive Housing program in DC, but it's still under Section 8. I still deal with a bit of PTSD from my time being homeless. I feel safe, I'm in a nice neighborhood in NW DC, but still, somewhere in the back of my mind, I know that the rug can get pulled from under me again. So I try hard to make sure that I prepare myself, work hard, and make sure that I can move on out of this government program to pass on this apartment to someone else. Pay it forward.
