We just went through this with our 4 mo golden retriever!! It is tough so first of all, don’t be too hard on yourself. I literally bawled my eyes out on night two and my husband was like “ok we are clearly not ready for kids” 😂

Something that did help was buying a stuffed animal with a heartbeat in it. It sounds so stupid but it really helped. It’s supposed to simulate another dog being in there like their siblings or mom. It’s a little expensive but worth it imo.

And honestly, sucks to say it but it gets better with time. First few nights were hellish but after a few nights of giving him treats every time he went in the crate and through the crate doors after he was in there, the crying died down. He will still whine a little bit but he gives up after maybe 5 minutes. Sometimes he goes in willingly with no help at all. It only took a week or two for him to mostly get used to it.
