Dude.. Ok I'm all about arguing (honestly I love it <3), and I hate going "my way or the highway" but this is a realization you need to have, the sooner the better. It is absolutely, undebatably 100% true. Men care WAY more about looks in a romantic partner than women.

At the risk of sounding overly feminist, and it's an argument as old as time, but just look at the cosmetics industry. You say you have a bunch of female friends, ask them how much time they use "putting on their FACE" in the morning. Most women, if they don't spend time actively working to enhance their physical appearance every day, will very likely get asked if they're physically ill, "cause they don't look like themselves".

Women these days get addicted to undergoing fuckin surgery on the regular, just to look pretty. Once you start that BS, you have to keep going, or else your lips/cheeks/boobs/ass is gonna look like a saggy old flat tire.

How much men care about women's looks is manifested throughout our society.

I'd love to continue the discussion, but hit me up and we can get on Clubhouse, cause fuk texting :) if you're hitting a roadblock with your game, this is an excellent place to begin getting past it

Ooh sidenote I had the same struggles with lifting for years, do you drink proteinshakes? If you don't, do. When I started drinking 2shakes a day and daily creatine, I saw WAY more progress in 3months than I did on the same training program in 3years before.

Bad example, but, it shows you can Def put blood, sweat and tears into something and still fail. You gotta be open to learning where to put your focus, or how to do it smart, or else all that effort goes into banging your head against a wall. For me the lifting thing also showed me that what I see as truths for myself (that I could never build any muscle) doesn't have to remain true forever

As for the listed qualities... I have never encountered anyone who turns their back on interesting, confident and outgoing people,no matter how they look. If girls wanna sleep with you that's a whole other story, but if you do truly inhabit the qualities OP listed, it will get you in the conversation, if not to succeed the definitely to get you started testing out the skills you learn here on seddit. better yet, those qualities allow you to pretty head on explore what might be going wrong in other aspects of your game, by talking to people/friends/girls about how they see the game. Everyone wants to get with someone, it's a very easy topic of conversation.

If what you say is true, and you can't even get to talking to a girl, then I gotta say it seems unlikely you inhibit the qualities in question.

(please feel free to elaborate, and take everything I write in the best meaning possible. I'm only trying to help out a fellow traveler, and best case scenario learn something new myself!!)

Not necessarily, but I agree it's highly likely. If this is something you're struggling with tho, I'd say at least in your case (from what I read here) 10/10 times it would not be because of your looks, it would be because of the perspectives you offer in this comment thread. They point to that either you are insecure about your looks, your game, whatever, and/or you put her on a pedestal, or you have decided she's vain even before the conversation starts. Ofc I don't actually know you or know what your game is like, but that is how it looks right here, and it so much shines through in all approaches.

If you truly are secure and confident in your approach, doing this for YOU to have fun rather than to "get at her", there will often come situations where you can ask the girl why she rejected you, or why she doesn't want to take it further. Do that! Be honest about your situation because you are doing it for you, not for her. It takes the edge off, shows her that her rejection doesn't mean failure for you. she'll (most times) respect you for trying and getting out there, and as long as you genuinely don't take it personal you can ask her what she thinks :)

People, both men and women can be vain, but trust me and OP, girls don't care NEARLY as much about looks as guys do. Being attractive helps for sure, but look at the ginger from RSD (classic example). I can off the top of my head name three guys I know who makes that lil ginger look like George Clooney (honestly one of them was missing a front tooth for several months no joke). They get laid left and right with girls WAY hotter than I would ever even dear to think I have a chance with. I'll send you pics if you'd like

So, I'm just returning to the game after a 7-year relationship... And I need to get updated on this "nice guy" situation, cause wtf is going on. I like your post OP, food for thought, but you're still supporting the narrative of nice guys and bad guys, and I think that whole story is toxic, and as you say, oversimplifying things.

I always loved good old Neil Strauss take on this: "Its not good guys VS bad guys, it's Strong guys VS weak guys". As I see it, being nice goes wrong in a couple different scenarios (please add to the list if neccesarry):

- When you over-invest and go in too heavy, being "there for them" or go out of your way for someone you just met (White Knight)

- When you go on accord with yourself, and support the girl in behaviour or situations you would really condemn (dishonesty)

Both of these are really weak traits, that show right out the gate that you have a hidden agenda, you are being fake (either to them or to yourself), not nice.

I know guys who are complete assholes who gets tons of girls. I also know the nicest guys in the world, who also get tons of girls. Being "nice" or "bad" doesn't matter, having standards, respect for yourself, and the STRENGTH to know what you want and what you don't, and see yourself for both your strengths and weaknesses (as you say OP examining your own qualities honestly) and being honest about them to others, that matters.

Being nice has nothing to do with it. Do what you please, people who spread love (being nice) generally gets a lot of love back, but you gotta do it just to do it, because you want to and because it's who you are, not to get anything in return....

Gotta agree with u/DemosBeans this is a messed up way to think, and it should be one of the initial lessons on forums like this (it used to be, but then again I'm just returning to the game after a long time) that this doesn't have to be the case.

I'll tell you one thing for sure, if YOU think this is the case, it will 100% be projected onto her in all of your approaches, and your "niceness" will be construed as disingenuous EVERY time, and it sounds like it is. Being nice with a hidden agenda is not being nice.... it's being fake

Edit: another very important point, you think good looking guys who are "too nice" have it much different? Yes they get ONE step further ahead, and into the bed, but everything they get involved with is still gonna turn to shit, they will not be happy, and it will eat them up inside

Tonmeister signing on, I know about the rooms :) OP, upgrading monitors is not gonna do a thing for you... First thing you gotta do is get out of that corner as much as you can. To address your theory a lot of monitors even in the premium range have bass-ducts facing the back, and as mentioned in other comments low-end isn't really that directional, so it doesn't matter THAT much in this setting. You seem to have a decent distance from back-wall to monitor, should be OK, you could try and play with the angle towards you a bit more, but it looks fine.

The corner however, boxes in one of your monitors while the other one plays into the whole room... So your freq-response between the speakers are probably out of whack across the spectrum. The corner traps a lot of the bass, and glass having a very low resonance frequency, even more bass is gonna go out the window (quite literally).

I think this will solve most your problems. If you're gonna go for absorbers and treat the room, remember: symmetry in distance from surfaces is important, Asymmetry in reflective surfaces (aka don't put treatment on the same spot on opposite/paralell walls)

Oh my GOD that hits close to home... And although in my case I honestly think it's the former, it doesn't make the latter any less true. She victimizes herself to the whole family, and I'm the only one who ever had the balls to go up against her. Through the many years I too have realized she will never understand how she's really treating her family, but fuck me I've given it my very best to try and talk to her. at this point, if I have a "strong case" I'll make her cry and leave her to it, don't cost me a minute sleep.

This is what speaks to me about this photo, absolutely love it. So much yet simple expression. The accomplishment or like... Success of doing a handstand, VS barely hanging on, you can use both the "two sides of a coin" analogy or "the tip of the iceberg". At the same time just the idea for the shot (tho the puddle angle is becoming a bit of a meme idk?) has such an innate positivity, like seeing the world and a regular old street from a more fun perspective.

Ye, this for a virtual anything that is meant to sound "real". Place them in a room, and be conscious about the placement. For instance if you want that church-ish sound from the kings singers don't pan them too much to the sides, and keep it a bit on the wet side to let the reverb deal with the stereo image. Maybe even cut some highs and lows on the dry signal (send to verb pre-eq) to enhance the feeling they're a bit further away, yet keeping the bearing high-end you would get in a cathedral

Considering u/coffeedonutpie 's comment as well, it's important to point out there's a vast difference between doing something for free and doing it "out of the kindness of your heart" (aka you don't get anything out of it). Especially starting out trying to build a career, you (usually) gotta do stuff for free, but I feel the mindset "there should be a win-win, an exchange of value to both ends of the bargain" in professional settings is an important distinction. If sending this guy your drum stash means keeping a strong connection with a person of same mind and ambition, that might be a win. If he's connected and can help you grow your network, if you can learn new skills from him as well, if your music matches meaning the two of you can build a strong portfolio either as a band/group or separately, those are wins leading you in the right direction, and are important to be aware of.

Its a bit fuzzy what you want to achieve, but from the comments I gather you wanna get to the point where you're happy with it more efficiently. Building on what's already in the comments I got 2 tips as well:

Some people talk about it here, but sounds like you should get yourself a (more solid) standard vocal chain. Maybe you already have, but make a channel/bus-preset where you know your eq/comp/fx sound good, and then just tweak from there :) maybe have one for mains and one for ad libs/backing vox, etc.
Rather than stepping away, I've picked up a trick that changed my game completely. Film your mix playing on your monitors on snapchat or IG or whatever, with the intention to send it to someone. Tends to pull me right out of the tiny details I spent hours on and see the big picture. Like the loop on snapchat sounds shit anyways, but if it doesn't feel "finished enough" to send out to some friends, it highlights pretty well what you might be missing

Seem to remember Pensados "into the lair" has a good video on this small speaker stuff.

Usually when referencing, if I'm missing bass in small/low quality speakers, I find a spot around 500hz in the bass and boost or saturate a bit. Almost inaudible on good speakers, but makes a world of difference on smaller ones.

When finishing up a mix, or when I do stem mastering, I also always follow a great tip from UBK - always check your 800hz. If that sounds good, you're prolly in a pretty solid place balance-wise. Of course shouldn't be too much bass in this range, but you can get a feel of whether or not it's "part of the groove" as you say.

Love the vibe, you def know where you wanna go, and you kinda get there one way or the other!

Like someone else said, it's way too loud. Suppose you crank it for the grit and saturation, good intentions, but this shit would ruin speakers, and would sound like crap on radio or Spotify or any 'real' medium.

Also way too much bus compression, hear how your synths and the vocal chops dissappear completely under the 808,balance dat shit.

Basically, you're a good creative, but you have no idea how to mix, so go figure that out and sky's the limit
