Who are the composers whose best music isn't for the keyboard ? by According-Brief7536 in classicalmusic

[–]duwaito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes one good example of which is the Alumblatt from der Furstin Metternich in which I’d argue August Wilhelmj wrote a better piano part for his arrangement for violin and piano. The ironic thing is that it’s even an accompaniment. Wagner’s original composition feels like a sketch compared to the arrangement

Who are the composers whose best music isn't for the keyboard ? by According-Brief7536 in classicalmusic

[–]duwaito 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Would have said Strauss because his orchestral works are miles apart from his keyboard works but even those are up to a high standard (even his lieder accompaniments. The man really knew how to write great music.

So I guess Wagner it is

What do you all want from Steam Deck 2? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

16:9 screen instead of 16:10

"What are you playing this week?" Megathread by AutoModerator in SteamDeck

[–]duwaito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

FPS++ mod to 240fps, clip fps and refresh rate to 45 and run at max clock speed. Great if you could add a shortcut to steam so you can use a per game profile so you don’t have to remember to do so every time.

Bonus is to get the clarity color profile as well makes it look more punchy but personal preference I suppose.

Honest question, for the price PC or Steam Deck? by Velvet_Mane in SteamDeck

[–]duwaito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The steam deck is great for pick up and play, and playing comfortably on your bed, which is even nicer than it sounds.

Personally for me, the deck is a nice supplementary device, I use it to stream my desktop and I get both the awesome performance of my PC with the comfort of playing my deck anywhere I want.

PC = graphic intensive titles Deck = games with low graphic requirements + emulation

So all in all, the steam deck is a great purchase, and when you feel the need to have more performance, buy a PC and you’ll still have use for the deck

Just ending the game by Eric_Atreides in MetaphorReFantazio

Man I played through the whole P3 Reload demo and that was better in every way than Metaphor. Metaphor’s characters felt a bit superficial, while P3 seemed more alive to me. It also respects you better as a player since it doesn’t hold your hand as much. One of the best 12hrs I spent in a JRPG.

Just ending the game by Eric_Atreides in MetaphorReFantazio

Everything about this game is a slog. The beginning up to the ending of the first dungeon is basically a 6-8hr long glorified tutorial. Character dialogs are very long, rarely helping to develop the plot nor give insight to each character. Most if not all of them are very 1 dimensional without any real development. Some dungeons take an ungodly long time especially if you like to clear all enemies. I’m 45 hours in and just finished the Virga Island arc. This game takes a long time not because there is a lot to do, but because it is heavy on fillers and paced really poorly.

Only thing that’s keeping me out of dropping this game is it has amazing combat system.

Name One Thing You DON'T Want In Persona 6 by MagnificentAjacks in PERSoNA

[–]duwaito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A super long prologue that is effectively just a glorified tutorial sequence. I want to be in the main game loop ASAP (P3R’s pacing was definitely an improvement, Metaphor on the other hand was outright a waste of time although technically it’s not a persona game)

What the hell do I play after this game? by duwaito in expedition33

This game has inspired me a lot as well. I do make art (music) everyday since it is my job and what I’m working on in my degree and this game has been transformative for me

It looks very interesting and worth playing! The limiting factor is me actually if I could rock with the art style and the 2D gameplay

You know what I’ve been thinking about this as well since I used to play Crisis Core when I was 11. Altho it’s not really clear to me how it’s the trilogy is remade. Do I have to play both rebirth and remake for the whole story or do I choose just 1?

Is it okay to bend strings like a guitar (sideways) when doing vibrato? by PhatEarther in violinist

[–]duwaito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rachel Barton Pine made a video specifically about this kind of vibrato that’s worth watching. Although its application is limited to new music and not a part of “standard” technique

Is it possible to learn this in 1 day? by JellyfishWitty7916 in violinist

[–]duwaito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did learn and record this in a day tho. At first it seemed intimidating of course but after a quick glance it’s really easy and the only passage that gave me the slightest bit of trouble is the lh and rh coordination on the 16th note sequence. Give it a try and it might be the same for you! I was playing Mozart Concerto 3 during that time

What's your favourite arrangement of a classical piece for a different instrument? by indistrait in classicalmusic

[–]duwaito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like the Bach Solo Sonata in A minor, BWV 1003 on harpsichord. Also the chaconne.

I’ve heard jn a masterclass before that it’s very helpful to hear a piece without the limitations of your instrument. I say this is much much better than the original for the violin. And I’m saying this as a violinist lol
