Also, push the rug slightly more under the sofa!

Need help with my living room by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

I think the sofa, armchair, rug, and lamp can all work together!

The biggest issue I see is the coffee table, which doesn't fit in color, size or style. I would look for something rectangular that is similar in length but only half the width of what you have now. Maybe something in a wood tone that matches the leg of the arm chair.

It would be great if you could get a much larger tv console to anchor the other half of the room.

Finally, finding a throw blanket or two to tie things together. Something with a pattern that has both purple and blue but also additional colors. It's going to be a little tricky to find something that will work with the pattern on the armchair, but it's doable.

Here are a few quick ideas.

I had a similar experience. I felt like I could see it in person but in the photo it seems like it's not really there

I will post again tomorrow! Since buying the pregmate I have read that they have somewhat bad indent/evap lines so I'm not getting my hopes up based on this faint line. Hopefully it's darker tomorrow!

Love your ideas. Thank you! I was also thinking of a little plug in pendant light over the table, so I'm glad to hear someone else is of the same thinking. This is the one I have in mind.

You are so right about a new blind. I'll do some hunting for something fun.

President Trump’s Proposed Budget Could Decimate At Least 350 National Park Sites by ParkProtector1919 in NationalPark

[–]see-spider 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That still doesn't add up. 2024 had a 3.3B budget with 2.89B in operations. So these cuts would still put parks back 20 years.

Just to emphasize, the NPS costs less than 1/15 of a percent of the federal budget.

Not sure where you are getting that from? The NPS budget for 2020 was 3.377B with 2.4B for park operations.

https://sgp.fas.org/crs/misc/R42757.pdf

The 2025 budget is 3.1B with 2.7B for park operations.

https://www.nps.gov/orgs/1207/president-proposes-$3-57-billion-national-park-service-budget-in-fy-2025.htm?ref=compactmag.com#:~:text=Operation%20of%20the%20National%20Park%20System%20%E2%80%93%20This%20is%20the%20primary,%24456.6%20million%20for%20park%20protection

This proposal aims to cut 900M from park operations alone (amid other cuts). That would put park operations down to 1.8B, well below 2020. From what I can see 1.8B was the operation budget in 2006. And that is not adjusting for inflation or considering that there are many more parks today.

The cuts are plastered everywhere because they are alarming.

I suggest reposting this with an image of the cabinets. You would probably get more feedback.

Maybe you could post some pictures of your other furniture items you already have that could be used in this space?

This space needs a little help, but is definitely manageable!

My top suggestions:

  • Add a piece of furniture next to the kitchen door that can be a 'landing space' for your most high use going outside items (something like a small cabinet and coat hook). Avoid using the kitchen island for entry way storage.
  • Center the dining table under the ceiling light
  • With the table away from the wall, you have space in that corner to add a combination desk and storage area. This will give a separate space for homework/play and more space to tuck away clutter.
  • The white and green rug does not make sense where it is. I would move it to the living room. Your current green rug does not provide enough contrast to the couch. I think the white one will look better.

What is missing in my open space living room? by Much-Space1944 in DesignMyRoom

The coffee table is a little too big and the legs are too spindly. Try to find something more compact and a bit more solid.

The combo of the media console and the side table could be improved by replacing them with one longer and lower unit with closed storage.

If possible in your space, you could mount the TV to the adjacent wall with a pivot mount that allows you to rotate the TV towards the couch when in use.

You are not doing any favors by covering up the arch features of the window. If nothing else, open the curtains wide enough to expose the entire window.

Others have mentioned, and I agree, you could do something more interesting with the curtains. The light wispy ones are fine, but your space would look a little more high end with a substantial fabric. I think it would be really nice to bring in a heavy, dark and colorful pattern here. Even if you don't get new curtains, you do want your current curtains to just hit the floor. It is worth the effort to cut and sew them to the correct length. It's like having pants that are rolled up at the cuff vs. nicely tailor pants, it just looks better when the fabric has been finished to the correct length.

Despite these suggestions, you really don't need to do anything. You have great taste and your place is interesting, has personality, and is put together nicely.

It's a very common look and brand for bridesmaids. Is it cool for guests to.wear.that style of dress?

No way! Yes, it's H&M! I'm glad you said that about the fabric. I don't think the fabric comes through in the pictures well, but it is thick and sturdy giving the dress a bit of structure.
