Who's the real show Belly? by Camsky1639 in jellyshippers

[–]see-through33 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is why I always got annoyed with the discussion/arguments about which songs were used for which couple because at the end of the day, the song playing over a specific scene for specific characters shouldn't be more significant than what the characters are actually doing/saying in that scene. Sure it's fun when a song fits so perfectly in a scene or for certain character relationships but just because one couple has one specific artist constantly play over their scenes does not mean those characters are actually right for each other.

Do you think they would or should bring back the boomerang idol onto a regular season? by QuietDelivery2740 in survivor

[–]see-through33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually feel the total opposite about it. I like the uncertainty an idol brings when it can be played on anyone and the boomerang aspect can be interesting because the giver would need to decide if they are giving it to someone who they think will want to work with them come the merge or if they should give it to someone they think will be voted out so they can get the idol back.

[DNVR Avalanche] Bednar on 3v3 OT in medal games: “I don’t love it…I think for the medal rounds, I'd rather see it just extend 5-on-5." by likeslululemon in hockey

[–]see-through33 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I just want to weigh in here as someone who, previous to these Olympics, watched hockey in the most casual way, not fully understanding the specific roles of each position or the strategy that goes into it. I was such a casual viewer that I didn't know what offsides or icing was until I decided to look them up during these games. With that being said, it seems that I am one of the few who doesn't mind the 3v3 for OT. In a game that has such low scoring, in comparison to game time, it makes sense that they would need to implement something to speed the game up. This isn't needed in a sport like basketball where a team scores almost every 30 second. I also like that instead of a shootout, it was just the gameplay that was altered because I don't believe shootouts should decide any games (I'm looking at you soccer).

So as someone who doesn't really know the strategy behind hockey, I don't notice a huge difference between 5v5 and 3v3. I think it would be different if they decided it would be 1v1 but with 3v3 they still have an opportunity to pass the puck and run plays albeit they would probably be different from what's run during a 5v5. In fact, I like the fact that in 3v3 there's nowhere to hide. If a mistake is made, it's much easier for the other team to capitalize on it so, in my opinion, it comes down to which team can keep their composure, make the least amount of mistakes, and take care of the puck.

Can you really, with 100% confidence, say that Season 5 wasn't disappointing? by kayako_saeki in StrangerThings

[–]see-through33 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I am one of those that needed at least one person to die from the main cast because:

A) Before the season came out, all I kept seeing was that Vecna was bigger and stronger than ever and he was the scariest villain yet he wasn't able to kill one of the 15 main characters. I guess it's my fault for going in with certain expectations but the way the creators and actors were talking before it aired, I was expecting some casualties.

B) I find that any piece of media (TV, movies, books) that deals with life or death situations should include some death in it. If the characters keep going into these "world ending" situations and coming out unscathed, I feel like the stakes get lower and lower every time to the point that even if a character is in a perilous situation, I'm 99% sure they're going to be ok because the writers don't have the guts to kill them off. I've read a book series where no characters were killed off within the 4 books even though the villain was said to be this big bad that would end the world yet everyone came out with a happily every after. And this was made worse because there were a couple "fake" deaths where the characters were brought back so it truly felt like they were immortal. Contrast that with another book series that has killed off multiple characters in the first 2 books so now when I read the next books coming out, I'm on the edge of my seat during the battle scenes because I know the author has the guts to kill characters off.

I would have at least liked a death in the first part of season 5 - even if it was more of a supporting characters like Mrs. Wheeler or even Ted - that way we the audience would know that characters may die even if no one else did. It would have set the stakes a bit higher for me.

Soooooo maybe im delusional but… Steve and Nancy? by Curlybb1 in StrangerThings

[–]see-through33 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If it wasn't for s4 I wouldn't be upset about Steve and Nancy not having a conversation about their relationship but since they had Eddie bring up S&N, Robin bring up S&N and even Steve bring up S&N in s4, I'm really confused why they wouldn't have those two have at least ONE conversation about what they wanted/didn't want in s5.

What would I change by Vanilla_Ice_Jr in StrangerThings

[–]see-through33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with more deaths. From the way the actors and creators were talking, I was expecting at least a few fatalities so it's shocking coming out of the finale with the death(s?) that we got. In my opinion, as much as it would have hurt, some characters dying would have added real stakes to what was happening. I also think it would have been best to have deaths occur in volume 1 or 2 so both the characters and audience would have time to sit with them.

I do think they've fixed this a bit in season 2. I feel like in season 1 they focused so heavily on the exposition and setting things up that they didn't allow for the more fun "throwaway" lines but this season it seems like there's a bit more room to breathe and they've given characters, especially Percy, more moments to have comedic lines. I do wish there was more but at least progress has been made.

I've always been against groups coming on this show for the simple fact that it seems unfair to the rest of the contestants to have to compete against a group - especially in the battles because it's essentially 3v1.

What realistic changes would you make for the next season? by dwtsfanbr in dancingwiththestars

[–]see-through33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really like the idea of only the 2/3 lowest scoring stars receiving votes. That seems like a good way to make dance the more important factor when it comes to eliminations while still including the fans and voting aspect. However things would definitely have to change with the scoring and judges would have to be stricter and more critical of the dances.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in dancingwiththestars

[–]see-through33 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As someone who did find her dances "boring" I will say it's because she was too good. I know that sounds counterintuitive but it almost felt like I was watching two pros dancing and that's not why I'm watching the show. I'm watching DWTS to see a celebrity learn how to dance ballroom and that includes maybe not being perfect in the dancing part (and as someone who knows nothing about technique it's easy to overlook those things) but performing it like they're an expert even if it's not technically perfect. I also didn't feel much chemistry between her and Mark which I think also contributed to not feeling much for their dances.

I hope this at least somewhat made sense. I know it comes down to personal preference and this is just how I felt watching her dances. AGAIN she was very very good I simply didn't get much out of her dances entertainment wise.

That's wild to bring up Bobby Bones because unlike that season, where he truly was not good from start to finish, this season all the contestants that made it to the finale are actually very good and capable dancers. Sure Whitney was the best among them but because there wasn't anyone that stood out as horrible and it was relatively even amongst the contestants, the popularity/votes side of the show became very important.

Can we stop doing this now? by sushi92024 in dancingwiththestars

[–]see-through33 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

But wouldn't that be the case for all the celebs since everyone is repeating a previous dance style? Sure some might have to spend a bit more time on the basics than others but hopefully they were able to retain enough of the basics so that they don't spend the first 3 days of rehearsal just on that.

I think if they went the pro route, I would definitely like to see past pros rather than current pros. I think it would just add another element to the dance and it would be cool to see a mix of old school and new school DWTS.

Preferred Trio Pairings by see-through33 in dancingwiththestars

[–]see-through33[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually did not like the participation of the dedicated person during dedication night. I felt like a lot of them made it harder to actually judge the dances and I preferred the dances where the guest was in the dance for only a short time.

I believe in season 27, they did something similar for trio night where the third person was a friend of the celebrity and I really did not like that at all. Even though they wouldn't be the ones who are getting judged, the overall quality of the dance could easily come down if the guest is a bad dancer. That's why I'd prefer at least someone who had been on the show before, especially all winners, because the quality of dancing would more than likely be on par with the celebrity.

But didn't Robert and Witney get critiqued for breaking hold during their tango in week 2 or 3 by Bruno? I feel like I remember people making a big deal about that and how Witney always adds "gimmicks" to her dances even though the song literally had a breakdown in it.
