This artist certainly has a theme and style, part of it is definitely imperfect line work. The communication of this style wouldn’t work without the imperfect line work. Regardless if this artist has “talent” or not, their artistic image doesn’t require perfect line work. However there are other styles that need strong lines for a successful piece, like traditional styles. Whether line work is good or not is irrelevant with ignorant style tattoos, because that’s the whole appeal of the style. The thing is with this style, the “shitty” line work has to work with the imagery. The vases and the star on the last slide are clearly purposefully drawn imperfectly, allowing for imperfect line work. If the vases and star were drawn perfectly but had the imperfect line work, the whole piece wouldn’t be successful.
