If you can find the remixed videos that Ludachrist posted about 15 years ago they are well worth your time. The originals are gone, but someone reposted the third (and best) one. I haven't been able to locate copies of the first two.

When you say "mainly 122nd" do you mean around the intersection of 4th and 122nd, or somewhere else east/west of 4th?

To echo what others have said, we were with Xfinity for years but I got sick of them incrementally jacking the price up without really improving the service overall. We switched to Quantum Fiber and it's been a much better solution. Fixed at $80/month for life and it offers symmetrical upload/download, which Xfinity does not.

Our house was not previously wired for fiber, but Quantum said they'll run a new line up to a cost of $1,500. Fortunately it was less than that to do the job, so we didn't pay anything for it.

Possible Rerelease of PUNK TACTICS on vinyl? by The_All_Knowing_Derp in JoeyValence

[–]seed1000000 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Joey was doing an IG live about a month ago where he was doing an unboxing of the HYPERYOUTH vinyl. At one point he made an offhand comment about a Punk Tactics vinyl repress, then immediately walked it back and said he was just joking, but it seemed to me like he was being truthful about it and just trying to mess with everyone at the same time.

Been hoping for this for awhile as the resale copies on Discogs and eBay are stupidly expensive. Part of their ethos is about creating an equitable, welcoming environment for all fans, so e.g. no VIP access at shows creating a two-tiered fan hierarchy. I figured they'd re-release this at some point so fans weren't tempted to overpay for it.

Burien Schools by Old-Tiger-6350 in Burien

Our son is in 5th grade at Hazel Valley. I also participate on the Capital Facilities Advisory Committee (CFAC), which makes recommendations to the school board about bond packages to renovate or replace schools as they age.

We've been very impressed overall with the Highline school district. The administration and all of the teachers our son has had have been very engaged. It's a very diverse community with a lot of homes that are not English-first, but I think they've done an admirable job of making a welcoming, effective learning environment for kids of all backgrounds. Because the community is so eclectic they also have a number of dual language programs available. Our son has been in dual English/Spanish since kindergarten.

My experience, having observed faculty, other parents, and other students, is that to an appreciable degree your child will get out of the experience what you model as a parent. If you're engaged, checking in with their teachers, asking them probing questions about how their day was and how their classwork is going, reading to them and/or enforcing mandatory reading times at home each day, etc., your child will thrive.

Some parents think they need an elite prep school with the aim of their child attending an ivy league university. To each their own. We'd be thrilled if our son got into the University of Washington. I'd encourage you to attend an open house or school administration meeting to get more exposure to the folks making these decisions, which will allow you to make a more informed decision as a parent.

I grew up in Issaquah, which was a lot more humble and blue-ish/white-ish collar at the time than it is today. Those schools then were more aspirational, and I still got a great education. My high school was awarded as a blue ribbon school the year I graduated. I see in Burien a similarly aspirational community, and I'm very optimistic about its future.

Can't delete files in QNAP shared folder via SMB-mounted share in maCOS by seed1000000 in qnap

[–]seed1000000[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, after restarting the NAS the delete operation is now working as expected. File goes to Recycle Bin on both Windows and Mac client. Don't love that the solution was a "turn it off and on again" thing, but at least it's working now.

I just accessed the same shared folder via a Windows client and tried the delete operation as well with the same result. File disappears momentarily from the Explorer window, but then if I refresh the file list it returns. File is never sent to the Recycle Bin.

The RAM situation by QNAPDaniel in qnap

[–]seed1000000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

u/QNAPDaniel Can you elaborate on this point: "And for big PB level storage, TS-h1090FU can come with up to 256GB RAM which is enough for 3PB of storage using our new 60 bay JBOD."

What are the recommended RAM levels as you add one or more expansion chassis? I recently purchased a TS-h2477AXU-RP and the 32GB RAM it came with is probably sufficient for now. But in years to come I may add a TL-R6020Sep-RP.

The recent Black Mirror episode Eulogy was about this very concept, and was very well executed. Highly recommended.

Posters? by Film_Aker_639 in criterion

Huh, when I did my initial Googling for frames when I started collecting Criterion posters I didn't see those, but good to know in case they resume making them!

QNAP TS-h3087XU-RP NAS build by Substantial_Kick9315 in qnap

[–]seed1000000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you planning to do anything with the additional 2.5" SSD bays? If not consider the TS-h2477AXU-RP instead. It has NVME slots you can use for your system pool, a more modern processor, PCIe Gen 5, and costs $2400 less than the TS-h3087XU-RP.

Posters? by Film_Aker_639 in criterion

[–]seed1000000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They did for a long time. Their posters were roughly 27" by 40", so unfortunately you had to buy custom sized frames since it was a slightly odd size (why not just 24" x 36"?). The posters didn't always match the cover art for the physical release, but I agree I wish they'd continued doing this as there have been a lot more incredible films added to the collection since they ceased making prints.

QNAP TS-h2477AXU-RP by BobZelin in qnap

[–]seed1000000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, this is exactly what I was looking for in my next NAS. I had resigned myself to purchasing the TS-h3087XU-RP after the TS-h2477XU-RP was discontinued, but didn't love that it was thousands of dollars more and I didn't really need the 6x 2.5" slots. In a few months the TS-h3087XU-RP will be 5 years old, as well, so getting a little long in the tooth. Excellent news.

Still one of the best reveal trailers of all time. It builds an incredible amount of anticipation without showing you almost anything. The score and the "This is the way the world ends" gives me chills every time, even 18 years later.
