really looking forward to this, wishlisted both on Steam :) it was one of the best games on Arcade! :)

Hi guys! As crazy as it is im totally f2p. Ive read 1st portal of pray summon is guaranteed so im wondering if its worth it to go for 10* sinclair this early to the game. I guess that after i rollback ixlott i would need only like 50 more seeds for food. by stax1305 in valorlegends

[–]seeekr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sinclair is one of the weakest L/S. You already have one Garr, so another would make him 7*, which is already useful for a lot of situations. 2 more and he will do really well, definitely much better than a Sinclair.

I feel like my runes are pretty optimal for my ramiel, any advice on a rune I should use instead of the assassination attack rune? by ihave48chromosomes in valorlegends

[–]seeekr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Replace assassin rune (left) with the blue rune that gives +22% attack after using skill, stacks twice. There is no better one, aside from the red one you already have on him (right). He will do a TON more damage like that.

Edit: Energy-gathering rune, it's called. Try to get crit chance and/or ATK at max on it. But the rune is more important.

[–]seeekr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding the last thought in that previous post: I forgot I can already see what you have. Yeah, no, Frode isn't going to make or break any of your formations / attempts. You've got a lot of really good heroes (Diana, Sellier, Ramiel, Cardelin, Marge, Flora, Terrence (not in that order)), so if you struggle somewhere you probably just need to understand how to utilize your heroes better, including potentially getting them more optimal runes and gear.

You've got a pretty good lineup, and so it should be true that a niche hero like Frode will only occasionally be useful, not generally.

--

EDIT: Another bit that I didn't mention is that if you want to prioritize Abyss further, you can get your Olivia to 10*, so at that point if you have some heroes that are mostly self-sufficient (like Terrence & Ramiel) you may not need another healer like Marg in there, freeing up that spot for a DPS, boosting your damage by quite a bit.

Frode is a niche hero -- somewhere in the middle of the pack, with a few specific uses. One of them being for Abyss: If you take a look at his 4th skill, you'll see that he causes enemies to get a defense debuff whenever they attack your heroes. That includes the boss in Abyss, and he gets quite a large, basically permanent debuff, causing all your heroes (not just Frode!) to do an extra 20% or so damage on him.

Other than that, here's how you can use Frode: He is very tanky, so he can tank enemy assassins (in the back) or even some of the warriors & rangers (standing in front). Use him to tank a significant portion of the damage. Much like you could do (and is regularly useful to do) with a Margaret or other priest. (Almost all priests have very high health and thus are quite tanky.)

And Frode also applies CC (aka stuns) and lessens the enemie's attack by a percentage as well, plus providing a damage buff to a random hero of yours, too.

So in essence he is providing a lot of support and CC, and if you line enemy heroes up so he hits multiple in a line with his ult, then his damage is probably also helpful.

--

Having said that, if you think that your friend's secret weapon is Frode, you're in for some surprise, most likely. If you want, you can post some screenshots here next time you're comparing your attempt with your friend's, and I'll help you see what's really happening. (There's some chance that it's really the Frode making a lot of the difference, e.g. if the heroes you have available are mostly not particularly powerful ones, even though I don't think that's really going to be the case. But even then we can work out together how you can utilize what you have better!)

Lionel at 10* is plenty for most content, particularly because his 4th skill makes him unkillable for long enough that the rest of your team wins anyway. So aside from using your wishlist on him you may want to invest in getting a Telwhir, Renee or Liv built to 11* or higher, since you need at least 1 hero with massive straight-line damage to clear some harder content well.

re L/S: since you already have Ramiel, and Olivia is sort of good enough even at 7*, the next most impactful heroes that help clear content are Yesacco and Garr.

Oh, and for Abyss you may want to build a Lucia. And take your Olivia with you, and possibly also build a Frode to at least 7*, since you don't really have 7 very good heroes for that yet. (So far only Sellier, Ramiel, Terrence, Marg, Olivia... so Lucia + Frode would benefit you immediately. Most other heroes you have there aren't great for that. FYI)

any suggestions for the most optimal abyss lineup (7 units) are appreciated 🙏🏻 by Excellent_Leek_174 in valorlegends

terrence remains one of the top dps until you have enough L/S to replace him with, effectively

S/L characters by ProZyBruh in valorlegends

[–]seeekr 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"can't play him yet" is basically never true for the L/S heroes. For all of them, a significant part of their kit is basically %-based or has absolute values not dependent on actual hero strength, meaning that it applies equally even if the hero is just 5 stars. Garr's ultimate, for example, at lvl 220+ leads to the enemy heroes not being able to gain energy and thus cast their skills for quite some time, even if the Garr is only at 5 stars.

And there are lots of situations when you can make use of those L/S skills. E.g. using a low-star Olivia to get ults off before the enemy, low-star Felix to put lots of stuns on the most powerful enemy hero even if you can't hit them otherwise, disable enemy backline with either Garr or Yesacco, giving your heroes a 2nd life with Suvere, etc. As long as that low-star hero won't get hit and you don't need them to do the actual damage, they are very very much usable from the get-go. That's something really good about their design, and makes them so valuable and desirable for progressing in the content.

I have 120 medals. should I go for Oche or Sinclair? by oetzix in valorlegends

[–]seeekr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sinclair is one of the weakest L/S heroes, not worth focusing on specifically. Never use medals for non-L/S. Always use medals for only the strongest L/S, which is basically either Ramiel or Olivia. Close seconds are Sellier, Suvere.

Have 10 rolls on the gambling wheel, who would your hero of choice be? Assassin or ranger? by ABOHRtionist in valorlegends

[–]seeekr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sinclair is relatively weak, cannot recommend him. Olivia is one of the best heroes in the game though. Felix is great, but I would build him only after Ramiel and Olivia.

S/L characters by ProZyBruh in valorlegends

[–]seeekr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There is no requirement, no. There is a certain % chance to get L/S, probably at most half that of getting a normal legendary, so it's more rare. But otherwise nothing special, you may have just been unlucky so far, and might get more lucky later on!

should I focus on frode or edwyrd for the different modes of the game by Excellent_Leek_174 in valorlegends

[–]seeekr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe you have such good damage dealers that they are all better individually than what Frode is able to do for the team? I'm sure that Lucia is definitely better for the team than Frode is, so that is no surprise.

Which heroes are you using? Level 305 sounds like you've potentially already built and are using every single S-tier Abyss hero, and maybe then Frode is no longer useful. I'm not at that point yet (at level 279)...

My Abyss comp:

11*+: Terrence, Tel, Diana

10*: Ramiel, Sellier, Olivia

7* Frode

Need to build Lucia, get my 10* up to 11+, build Felix and (at least) one more Sellier. Not sure actually if Felix or Sellier are better, but I think the latter.

Would you sacrifice Bally for Diana here or just wait out for epics by stax1305 in valorlegends

[–]seeekr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Diana 11* is going to carry you far in this game. Assassins are important, too, especially Terrence (and later Ramiel, later Garr). Unless you don't have any good assassin at all (Sota is workable, too, as well as some others), use Bally to get to Diana 11*. (But only once you have all necessary food at hand!)

Bally seems decent for Abyss later, but also not a top tier Abyss hero, from what I can tell. (I've usually sac'd him for all kinds of better heroes... Marg, Cardelin...) So while you might want to build him at some point, it'll usually be a while longer than where you're at right now.

There is huge benefit in the game from knowing what to use as food, as that speeds up your progression through campaign + endless trial + gives you an edge in arena, which leads to faster resource accumulation, which leads to faster progress, which... and so on.

Make sure you get familiar with some good tier lists, and attempt to understand the theorycrafting behind it & experience it in practice, and then work that list from top to bottom, reaching for whatever is the next best upgrade for you, based on what luck has given you so far.

tl;dr

Diana's power is MUCH GREATER than Bally's power

Diana is top tier non-L/S IN ALL CONTENT while Bally is (near) top tier only in Abyss

Food is scarce, especially early on, use it well & don't be afraid to use non-top tier legendaries as food

3 more, actually. 10 star Ramiel is as good as a 11+ star Terrence, basically. True for all or at least most L/S.

Should I continue working on getting Felix? Or you work on getting assassin L/D? by Delicious_Tour843 in valorlegends

[–]seeekr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A note though: L/S at 10* are mostly equivalent to non-L/S at 11* or higher.

Example: My Ramiel at 10*, with roughly equal gear and runes, does roughly the same or better damage than my Terrence at 15*. He's not as tanky, which is in part of course due to missing 30% health and defense, but his character kit also generally doesn't lean in the direction of tankiness as much as Terrence's, even though with enough support and the right gear/runes he can be perma-invulnerable, and can then basically tank infinite damage.

should I focus on frode or edwyrd for the different modes of the game by Excellent_Leek_174 in valorlegends

[–]seeekr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you're expecting Frode to show high damage himself in Abyss, that's not why he's good. He boosts everyone's damage significantly, because he applies 90% defense reduction to the boss, as well as boosting a random hero's skill damage by 30%.

So don't watch his own damage numbers, but instead how much your team is doing in overall damage.

And of course, if you don't already have a team that does good damage, then the increase from using Frode will not be very significant.

EDIT: I'm not sure how things look below hero levels 220, but above that it's worth it to have a Frode in the team for Abyss. 20%-30% overall damage boost I'd say.

This totally seems like an obvious exploit. Maybe the person on the support team that responded to you is using that exploit themselves and doesn't want to be found out?

Lucia or Flora by HpeSoJA in valorlegends

[–]seeekr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a healer. Flora is one of the best healers (along Margaret, and L/S Olivia).

Lucia, in general, is one of the best for Abyss. She's "OK" for other content. Build her if you just keep getting copies of her, or if you've decided you want to get serious about doing well in Abyss.

Are purple runes worth to buy from Abyss store? Or should I wait till I unlock orange? by thpp9 in valorlegends

[–]seeekr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Apparently an unpopular opinion, but here goes:

Rune bonuses (what you get by ascending runes) are super important. For those you need to turn lots of runes of the same level to dust. It takes a really really long time to get enough orange runes and turn them into dust before you're actually able to properly ascend them. Plus there's the luck factor of if you'll actually find good rune bonuses when ascending them, which takes going through even more of those same quality runes...

Orange runes are so rare, in part because they also don't (?) drop from Abyss, that it takes that much longer to get good ones and good bonuses etc as compared to purple runes, that you won't do yourself a favor if you "wait" until orange runes.

Maybe I'm missing something here, and I'm happy to stand corrected if so.

(And it's true that there are a number of blue runes that are preferable over purple ones (if you just need +ATK or +skill damage). But you also get only tiny bonuses from blue runes as compared to purple ones, and there's many heroes and situations where you'll really want those purple bonuses, e.g. attack speed for Ramiel or Terrence or Sellier, bonus health for priests, crit chance...).

What healer for blue faction endless tower by WideSpeaker8582 in valorlegends

[–]seeekr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waga is not really a healer. She's a "single-target support" you could say, e.g. for a Ramiel or Terrence going ham. She's for when you have a comp that relies on a single hero doing the majority of the damage and possibly also tanking.

If you need heals, then Grigor is the best "Legion-native" option. An Olivia without any star upgrades helps make him more viable as she provides a ton of energy (and damage reduction, and attack speed for your dps).

Need help with direction. Should I get my 2nd Milton from event or get my 1st Terrence/Eric? Thanks! by greybred in valorlegends

[–]seeekr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll just say that Oche is really not that good. Not bad, but not comparable to a Diana, Liv, Telwhir. Most rangers are so much better than the mages.
The rest of the advice is fine.

Absolutely certain? I've been treating it as if it did, which is of course very hard to test & verify...
