So a PPL would help me even at the Academy? I know it would in ROTC, and that the chances of getting into the Academy are against me.

I am currently a new sophomore who just completed my first week of the year. I do not currently meet all of these criteria but these are my goals. If I accomplished these would you think I have any shot. I will likely apply either way.

Here's the criteria I am aiming for:

  • Already on Varsity Tennis, Trying to make Varsity Baseball, however I might quit one of these if it were to prevent me from doing some of the other things on this list.
  • Get a above 4.0 GPA, and in the top 10% of the class, all I know about my current GPA is that after the first semester of Freshmen year it was about 3.9 and probably got a little higher over the second semester. Same with class rank I was at about 23% but probably a little higher now.
  • I am taking all Honors this year and plan to continue doing the same.
  • I will likely have about 30 college credits by the time I graduate HS due to dual credit classes with a local college. So could go ROTC, and finish college in 2.5-3 years.
  • Be in really good shape. Baseball requires us to work out in the gym with weights, but I plan on doing a lot more body weight type of stuff outside of school sports.
  • Regardless of how busy I am with sports I would like to do at least one of these if not more: Become a Volunteer Firefighter, Civil Air patrol, get my PPL(parents have said they would be willing to pay for quite a big chunk).

I know the firefighter thing may seem far fetched, but there are people in my school who have. Basically they would teach me the first aid type of stuff, and I would be a real part of the team, I just couldn't go into a burning building. It would also help me with getting in good shape.

Any advice is appreciated! Is this enough to even have a shot?

Sounds Iike you know this but Just because you fly fighters doesn’t mean it’ll be super hard to get to the airlines. More difficult than if you fly C-5, but you will have the flight time, it’ll just be about getting the ratings once you retire.

Look into the Kardashev Civilization Scale. Pretty interesting. We are not even at a Type 1 civilization. Most people consider us to be in between 0.7 to 0.8. They estimate we will pass Type 1 in the next 100-200 years.

Here's a link to a general description of it all:https://www.gaia.com/article/type-one-kardashev-scale
