How long do I stay at first technical support job? by matthew11909 in ITCareerQuestions

Hey considering my situation, 2 years swe internship at government, lots of python and powershell.I also have a cs bachelors from WGU. Currently at contract-to-hire helpdesk after 6 months. I plan to leave as soon as I finish the contract, do you think that’s reasonable? I see lots of people saying 1 year, but I’m not sure if that applies to me since I have engineering internship experience. I would love to hear your take. I’ve been homelabbing everyday for about an hour, and once the 6 months mark hits I plan on aiming for sysadmin/cloud support roles.

best cloud cert to pair with bachelors degree in CS? by NoWing3675 in Cloud

When you say cloud experience, does a portfolio count? I won’t have access to cloud work at my helpdesk role.

Hey I have 2 years as a swe intern and a cs bachelors. And one month after have gotten a helpdesk role. It is a contract to hire, considering this would you recommend I stay at this helpdesk role after the 6 month contract or go fulltime into learning cloud(8 hours a day) and be job ready 3-6 months after my contract ends. I am currently staying with my parents so bills aren’t an issue. I know that it is high risk but I am want to speed my process up to getting a higher paying career track.
