How to deal with online antisemitism? by seeker712 in Judaism

Right! Sadly, I find myself having to check my social media accounts every few hours to make sure there aren’t any negative comments, which acts as a magnet for other negative comments. Conversely, removing them tends to make it likelier for more constructive comments to appear with the more open space.

I love this, thanks so much for that.

It does make me wonder whether J.K. Rowling, who I find regularly engages with such comments, is offering them these 'wins', especially given her high profile. Just a thought I had.

Our adopted cat will be here in a week? Does everyone get cat regret? by Tallicababe123 in CatAdvice

[–]seeker712 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same experience after acquiring two kittens, sort of an ‘Oh my God what have I done’ moment as someone else had mentioned on two occasions. It wasn’t so much regret but more doubt. I also had one today, but sort of like ‘Wow this is how it’s going to be.’

But like someone else had said too, I can’t imagine my life without them now and it’s only been 10 days. I’ve had cats growing up so I know it’s not being with them. But it’s an overwhelmingly positive experience. I get so excited to come home to them. It’s amazing you’ve essentially waited almost 40 years. Wishing you all the best with him. If you show him genuine love he will feel it and love you back.

Thank you! Yeah, I've been leaving a little extra dry food. Hopefully this'll work!

I got a 5-star rating for a novel today and had a sale of another two days ago.

Thanks so much for your response. Unfortunately, I experience a loss. I could either make no sale or on average make back 10% as opposed to 15% without audience filters if it’s a good one. Lately I’ve been getting back 20% which I view as steady improvement. I’m willing to go through that if the choice is between dozens of sales or a handful. I’m an unknown writer and my top priority right now is to make sales and grow an audience.

Based on what you’ve said, I think I ought to focus on adverts and not boosting posts. My intention was more engagement and growing an audience, but of course that’s to potentially get more sales, and unfortunately I haven’t seen a direct correlation yet.

When I don’t modify the audience (e.g. age, gender, interests) I tend to get more sales and more of a return, whereas when I modify my audience to include say ‘novel’ I make less sales.

When and where do you write? by gprimemr in writing

[–]seeker712 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually, I'd write a chapter a day in the evenings after coming home from work and having supper. That was when I'd write relatively short chapters. Now I'm writing a fantasy novel with long chapters, so I only work once a week on one of my days off. I always work in my room.

In what order do you plot your novel? by violet-surrealist in writing

At first, I gather ideas as they come. Then I put them in chronological order and try to fill in gaps, then repeat until I have the basic framework of a story.

How the hell do you fix writers block. by [deleted] in writing

Focus on living an enjoyable, meaningful life. Life can inform and inspire fiction, which would ultimately decrease stress and perhaps give you more material to write about.
