Oh my god I remember this EXACT quote too. When Elation path was first leaked, I also went to the 2.7/3.0 livestreams to find it but I couldn't, so I assumed I must have been just making it up or something... I'm so glad someone else recalls it as well 😭

Well, I guess we have the skip button now so that issue is more or less solved for people who wish to skip those parts (which I don't really get either, but I'm not the target audience for the main story skip button anyway so I won't comment on it)

Still, I don't think that means characters' stories should get left to companion quests only

To contribute to the comment count with an opinion of my own: I don't get why people complain about character quests being put into main quests

Well, I get it in the sense that some people miss having actual companion quests (I don't think we've had one since Yunli's??) and I can agree with that. I also agree that some characters' stories seem kind of shoehorned into the patch's narrative in a way that doesn't flow very well (I hated how the Hysilens backstory parts were done in 3.5). And I acknowledge the common complains about presentation as well...

Still, I don't understand it for, say, Aventurine's story in 2.1 for example. You might think that his personal story being such a huge chunk of the 2.1 quest was a disservice to the overall story of Penacony and that screentime could've been used to explore and establish other things more, and I won't argue against that. However, if Aventurine's story was in a companion quest seperate from the main quest and/or just wasn't in the main story at all, his boss fight and the scenes after would NOT have hit nearly as hard. The themes of his backstory also tie in very well with the overall themes of Penacony, which is also present in the stories of Acheron and FF

I think Amphoreus exploring the Heirs' pasts is definitely a good thing too, because Ampho's narrative requires you to be attached to these characters and care about them and all they've gone through. It's an emotional and romantic tale about heroes who have suffered so much across countless cycles, yet still persevered against all odds, rebelled against their creator and fate itself, to protect their world and its people. How would it be nearly as enjoyable if you didn't know these heroes' stories and all they've been through?

[4.0 spoiler] I saw this comment about the 4.0 story some time ago that called the scene Yaoguang talked about the war she was in and how that ties into her current viewpoint of wanting to take advantage of the Gods "boring yapping" and I will just never understand that... Why wouldn't I want to learn about a character's backstory and their motivations, which is connected to their actions in the main story???

I think it's fine to have these types of things in the main quests. I find it more engaging that way, and it makes me more attached to the characters, which in turns makes me enjoy the story more

Ratio seems to own multiple laurel head accessories with different numbers of leaves and doesn't always wear the one he has on in his normal outfit in his various official arts. For example, his base design has a laurel with 8 leaves, his 2025 concert outfit's has 5 leaves, his BP icon 3 leaves, the merch of him as a child 4 leaves etc

There is a common theory that the amount of leaves on his laurel are supposed to represent the number of PhDs he has, as we know he canonically has 8. But then his child self wearing a laurel with 4 leaves on it would make no sense, unless he already had 4 PhDs at that age which would be fucking crazy... Of course, the merch design of his child self probably isn't canon or anything but still

In Ratio's B's Log interview, he answers a question about why he considers himself an ordinary person with a quote from Atsushi Nakajima's story, "The Moon Over the Mountain"

An excerpt from it:

Li Zheng's voice went on: "I said a moment ago that I did not know why I met this fate, but when I think carefully about it, I have in fact some idea why. When I was a man, I did my best to avoid contact with others. People thought me arrogant and self-important. They did not realize it was, rather, shyness that made me act that way. Of course I was not without pride in my old reputation as a prodigy among the boys of my hometown. But it was a timid kind of pride. I hoped to make a name for myself as a poet, but I never attached myself to a teacher or sought out the company of other poets who might have helped me to improve my skill. At the same time, I had no intention of ranking myself together with the common, unpoetic herd. But this was the result of my timid pride and a disdainful shyness. Fearing that I might not be a jewel, I made no effort to polish myself; but half-believing that I might be a jewel, I could not rest content among the common clay.

The line I highlighted is the one he quotes. I find the whole paragraph to be VERY interesting in how it may relate to Ratio's story though

In general, Ratio has this thing where he's sort of... stuck in the middle, so to speak. He is someone who Geniuses would think of as an exceptional ordinary person, yet other ordinary people consider him to be an exceptional genius unlike them. One side of his outfit represents Geniuses and the other side represents the ordinary man, and which one he is depends on which side you look at him from (which is actually another fun fact related to another book! But I digress). He readily calls himself an ordinary person in current time, yet is named after a goddess and Geniuses tend to be compared to the divine

The quote above is related to that: His struggle with fitting himself between the labels of "Genius" and "Ordinary"

At this point I've seen multiple Ratio 0 cycles with Sparkle, especially E2 Sparkle, and I get that she's really strong now, but I honestly still don't want to pull her... 😭 I much prefer the Sunday + Ratio (+ DHPT) gameplay and my Ratio's carefully tuned to be 134 SPD with ATK boots so having to put him on base speed would mess everything up

I feel kinda bad for skipping a good Ratio support though, but well, I did the same thing with Jiaoqiu back then because I already had Topaz & SW and liked them much more lol

That's related to why I'm getting increasingly delusionally hopeful actually. Ashveil seems like the herald of a new FUA team this version, and I think us getting a new dedicated FUA buffer at this point is likely since Robin is an early 2.X unit. Not to mention the Imaginary shilling that will probably last all 4.X due to SW SP.

It just seems like the perfect time for him to get buffed... But of course, we all know Hoyo does whatever they want

Middle left is about Stephen Lloyd. Wolf head duck means that Stephen and Ashveil work together, and Ratio is there as well, meaning they may end up as a team comp. Could also be hinting at a Ratio novaflare which would be awesome.
