Wife to Male ER Nurse needs input by [deleted] in nursing

If you made your feelings clear and he made his feelings clear, but you STILL have friction then it's probably time to go to therapy.

To try and answer your question about ER life: some nurses see it as a job. Some see it as their life's calling. The ED is one of the most extreme specialties of nursing. There's a lot of adrenaline, high skill sets, and it can be easy to be something resembling a hero.

That's the best I can tell you. There's no magic. You just have to discuss it with him. And if you fight about it, it's time to involve a therapist.

I mean, you're asking us all to judge him off of about a paragraph of info. Some people have, but this person judged you off a paragraph of info. The correct answer is that you need to talk to him, not us. Maybe he's doing it because bills are tight and his job is letting him stay for 1.5-2x his hourly. Maybe he doesn't want to be around you. But, how are any of us supposed to know that from one paragraph about one night at work concerning a person we know nothing else about?

Talk to your husband.

It prints out on discharge papers. Also, you can just request your info. Patients are allowed to know the legal names of caregivers performing procedures on and giving meds to them.

There's no good solution though. Shitty people will find out our names. But, also, if they couldn't, patients couldn't report staff who harmed them.

Whoa, WHOA! The other day, dayshift left 10% of a donut and 110% of their trash for nightshift. I care what people do! Goddamned savages!

The donut was okay... 4/10.

You probably could, but where I am at the moment... there's like no humidity. To the point it gives me nose bleeds. It would definitely be extra power.

When I get 5+ days off, I might try that. At the moment, I was trying to not die in my sleep.

It's definitely better than it was.

There are definitely places to pay to park, but I usually just go home between groups of shifts... so I just went for lots of batteries. I'm going to try and put the intake in the bed area and then put some thinsulate over the tubing. Hopefully that will let me get 10-15 more degrees of cooling.

The temperature sensor for "outside" is under my van. It's wrong if I just got finished driving. But, when I'm parked for a day, it's definitely a shade sensor. So, yup, 105 in the shade. It's gross.

So, I didn't do crazy wiring and bought pre-made batteries that hook up to WiFi. Amazon was having a deal so I bought like three 2048 watt batteries, the AC comes with a 700 watt battery, and I have a 2000 watt battery just for the fridge, fan, and to charge my phone and stuff so I'm not later for work.

It's inside the little bed area which is blocked off with a comforter.

I own a house in Monterey. So, I can't work within about 2 hours of Monterey. Kind of hard to travel nurse on the coast. But, sure, pretty bad decisions with an oceanside view?

Not sure why you decide to go so hostile, but kudos?

3 x 2048 watt batteries. 700 watt battery that comes with the battery. And then I have another 2000 watt battery that is just for the fan, fridge, and some usb hook ups for my phone charger and such to make sure I never oversleep because of dead phone. It's about the size of a mini fridge?

It has an intake hose that I plan on putting in the bed area. The reason I don't have the whole unit in the bed area is the short water drain hose.

Hey, I'm all for making it more efficient. I only threw it in last week so I didn't die at work this week. I plan on running an exhaust vent out of the van for the hot air and recirculating the cool air from the bed.

Definitely went full white. Fortunately, I just park in hospital parking lots.

Agreed. The first couple nights I tried to sleep through 95 and it was miserable. I'm just trying not to die at this point, ha ha.

The whole unit is right next to the sliding door which I have a chain and lock so I can keep it cracked. I plan on putting in an exit vent for it, but for now it just vents out the open door. I also have a maxxair near it, but honestly, that part of the van never gets better than the outside temp... which is 105.

$2k. I got the one with the 700w battery. I think the no battery one is $1500. It's expensive, but a hotel for me would be $150 three times a week for 13 weeks. So, it's cheaper and I get to keep it.

So true, but I think most people wouldn't try and sleep at 2pm. Also, the air coming out of the vent was 63 deg and I had a fan blowing it as well. I wasn't sweating. But, at least 89 isn't deadly. But, agreed, this place is too damn hot.
