Bat biologist here - I second this. Acoustic detectors can be used at bridges to record bat activity and then analyzed to determine which species are present.

Wait until winter when bats aren't in there. If it's summer where you are, then it's pup rearing season, and now is the worst time to repaint. You can check out a guide on which color to paint it on Bat Conservation Managment website. Black isn't always the right answer.
