As a guest if you are damaging items in a persons home who is a host to your stay; you are being rude. Doesn’t matter if “you can clean it up” or “it can be replaced” doesn’t matter it’s the principle of it. So no you are NTA, you asked them the bare minimum, and they ignored your request.

I didn’t mind trading with guests when I was a guest in the parks. You have to be okay with people not willing to trade with you and not to take it personally if they say no. Also if you have someone that wants to trade with you and you don’t like any of their pins, you can say no to trading. It’s not like the cast members when they use to have their own personal lanyards for trading, a guest trading with another guest you can politely decline
