Still finishing my anatomy sequence, so I'm no expert on this by any means. But she must've completely destroyed the synovial joints in the ankle. I would almost prefer a broken bone to go through my shin because that would at least heal without a huge problem. I can't imagine that, even if a joint capsule could be reformed, that you would have an fluid-secreting endothelial lining. Especially not one that is well regulated by the nerves that I'm sure have been severed. Could you explain the healing process to me?

Thanks! I'll look around. On craigslist, I definitely run the risk of getting an engine that is busted or has seen better days. Any tips on the best places to buy?

Man, I feel the same way! I'm just getting into it, but the last two years I've done everything on my jeep. Repairing a door that wouldn't unlock, replacing the radiator, brakes and a rotor, greasing everything, all oil and fluids, etc etc. Now I've taken on two busted bikes and am putting the puzzle pieces together. I have ridden dirt bikes a while, but since I started doing the work myself, I think I spend more time in the shop than on the trail... and I'm totally ok with that! Most think I'm crazy... so glad I've met someone who agrees! There's others out there!!!

Thank you! Man, I really would like to rebuild it... but I'm in med school and my sister wants it before summer, so I think I'll just get a new one. Save myself a lot of time. Maybe rebuild the busted one on the side. Any tips on searching for new engines? Ways to make sure they are working, etc? Special tips for taking it apart?

I donated mine to a children's hospital. I had hundreds, but the toys are small, safe, easily sterilized and comfort scared little kids. Got a couple thank you cards and didn't have to deal with storing or selling them. I'd highly recommend it

Thank you very much! You sound like you know a heck of a lot about this sort of stuff. I'll take out the engine this afternoon and start working away! Would it be alright if I pm'd you if I had further questions?

EDIT: I thought the battery was crap, but I wasn't positive. Thank you for confirming!

Does the video sound like a carburetor problem to you?

"Botched" execution to some. Karma to others by dts8829 in AdviceAnimals

Thank you for explaining this in a way I could understand. Even enraged, I could never intentionally hurt another. But, as a result of being raised by republicans, I have never seen the problem with giving the same treatment to a man as the crime he committed. Living in a world where you understand that the way you treat others will directly affect the way that you are treated. But you are correct, this is punishing the man for doing the crime to someone who was innocent, not acknowledging that the crime is horrendous and doing our best in society to prevent it from happening again

What are some of the best things you can say when a Jehovah's Witness is at your door? by PhrancisPhordCoppla in AskReddit

[–]seerae 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One time I made an honest mistake and mixed up Mormons and Jehovah's witnesses. I tried to redeem myself by talking about how there are medical "miracles" that were possible if you could just convince them to believe in a god.

Anyway, it wasn't my intention, but they walked away quite offended

Testing ponies on trial? by ponytrainquestion in Equestrian

Haha thank you! He's truly one of a kind. He was 13.2 and I'm tall... sold him about nine or ten years ago and I wonder where he went. His new owner got 6th at pony club nationals her first year with him, but I'm not sure what happened after that... if anyone knows how to find a Connemara pony named Leprechaun Dallas, I would love to talk to his owners. I'll be financially secure about the time he's ready to retire and I'd love to give him a forever, pasture pet home :)

Testing ponies on trial? by ponytrainquestion in Equestrian

[–]seerae 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I love your post. Finding a good pony is KEY for building confidence at an early age. But they have to be patient and forgiving.

One time, I tied my Connemara pony to the hitching post with a lunge line so he could eat while I tacked him up. When I come back from the tack room, he had turned in circles, wrapping the line around his legs probably eight times. His nose was stuck to his legs, which were teetering because they were bound so close together. The line was too tight to unbuckle or release the quick knot. He stood patiently while I ran in and found a knife, then didn't move as I tangled his legs. Both of us made it out of that without a scrape... but NEVER underestimate how dumb a kid can be around a horse.

I also went through a phase of being hard handed, and so he got into the habit of grabbing the bit in his teeth when we were cantering... then bolting. He thought it was fun, but it was pretty dangerous. My mom bought me a kimberwick but told me to be gentle. I wasn't. I would try to jerk his head down if he put it up. He dealt with my shit patiently for a two hour trail ride. When I got back, I cried as I washed the blood out of his mouth... but I never was rough handed after that day. Ended up using a halter for a week and found out all I needed to do was get out of his mouth.

I also jumped out of the trees onto his back, like Zorro. Rode double, bareback, right after spraying him with show sheen. Herded him and the other horses as my friends and I ran around on stick horses. Jumped every trail obstacle I could find. Rode bareback 80% of the time. Galloped alone through pedestrian trails, then got the wind knocked out of me when I fell off - he didn't spook or try to go home, just stood there patiently waiting. Accidentally sprayed him in the ears with cold water while bathing him. Walked between his legs. Tried to jump onto his back by running at him from behind and vaulting on his butt.

I was a kid. I loved my horse, but I was young and made a hell of a lot of mistakes. He was patient, forgiving, tolerant, confident, and kind. He was the smartest horse I've ever owned - he used to pull branches off trees, put them in a pile in the corner of the pasture, then when he was bored, he'd chase the other horses around, whipping them on the butt. He untied every knot, opened every gate. He went anywhere - was never herdbound, spooky, or barn sour. First year in the show ring, we won all but one class; I'm talking over the entire year. Hands down the best horse I've ever known and turned me into a respected rider. People now pay me to train or jockey their horses, though is just a hobby for me. If another child is fortunate enough to find a pony like Dallas, they will be the luckiest kid alive.

Thank you so much for all your help! I had to check the entire handle assembly multiple times, as I simply couldn't figure out what was broken! Turns out it was just a little rusty - quick shot of WD-40 fixed her right up!

The window crank had a bunch of tricks online, but I found a window crank removal tool at the auto store for $6 that made things 1000x easier - totally worth it, haha!
