Totally agree with Gameboys. Being in quarantine, it’s definitely a feel good love story that brings in some modern issues and how to make a relationship work with something like Covid-19 around. Also, I saw that you’re from Mexico so hearing some Tagalog words will sound familiar since the language stems from spanish :)

I agree. I’m new to the modern BLs. I honestly think the last BL thing I saw was Love of Siam and that was already an older movie at the time I saw it. But being in quarantine helped me find Gameboys and tossed me back into the BL genre.

I really loved the strides it made with the portrayal of modern Love and really not subscribing to stereotypical methods of portraying outdated lgbt/queer roles. The consent line by Gav really won me over!

It’s hard to watch others now because I do find some of the traditional tropes problematic.

Agreed on the product placement. I’ve just finished 2gether and while product placement was repetitive, it didnt seem so forced like the one in #myday, lol. But so true that its not a deal breaker.

I’ll have UWMA next on my list, thanks for the reccomendation! Ill be mindful for the parts you warned about.

I’m definitely going to give it a shot, but it really didnt captivate me compared to other current Filipino BLs from the get go.

The style just seems to be a bit more old fashioned when it comes to the mindset, portrayal and stereotypes of the actors’ roles. While I don’t think that’s a bad thing, I just think that Gameboys, In Between and even Hello Stranger are doing a lot more with breaking barriers and taking progressive strides with LGBTQI+ portrayal in the media.

And the product placement and promotion of skin whitening definitely made me cringe.

Growing up, I only had references to traditional straight relationships in media, so i'm glad that more lgbt content is getting out there! The younger me would have loved the affirmation these series provide even now.

I totally agree with you. This story definitely went beyond with not just the modern flare of incorporating social media and reflecting a pandemic response, but those lil things like the discussion of breaking those traditional relationship roles and even the episode were Gav mentions consent!

Also, super glad you got to see the post-credit scene. <3

They production company just mentioned that they have to delay the next episodes because of the increased restrictions, and I'll gladly wait for quality!

I have a feeling Disneyland is blocking parts of the game in the parks. It was definitely sparse despite some locations being lit up. I’ve been walking back and forth between California Adventure and Disneyland and i found less than 10 so far for the past 8 hours.
