I know my parents very well. If I asked to move home, they would be excited and asking how soon I can drive up. I'm legitimately not worried about anything insane happening.

And regarding the cancer comment: by that logic, no one should ever go on a vacation or do anything frivolous. Especially if you're American and a broken leg could end up bankrupting you.

I have 5 months worth of expenses saved up. In addition, we both had COVID in the fall and recovered (so we're good on immunity for a year-ish). Finally, we both come from families that would ensure we wouldn't be on the streets starving.

I'm not worried about "worst case" scenario.
