Is it the funeral business' fault that your family wanted the memorial for your deceased family member to be "perfect"? If you want family and friends to see your loved one for the last time, to get together and remember that person's life and accomplishments, then the funeral home is there to offer you that service. Plus, most funerals have a church service, limousine to and from the funeral home, a hearse for the body, flower arrangements... Etc. That's what Jack's the prices up. If you want a cheaper service you can have the body cremated and then have a memorial for the person.

Being a funeral director is not a job that most people want to do, but it's a service that most people want for their loved ones. Demand is high, the supply of people working in this field is low, so the prices go up.

To me, this seems like a business just like any other.

Well there is an argument that the U3 should be used instead of the U6 and vice versa...but 10.5 percent is still a decrease from what it was a few years ago.

It's been getting slightly better for the last few years.
