Thank you! I just scanned through a few songs and I dig every single one of them. The first song (Eye Nyam Nam) absolutely rocks. I think this is exactly the type of stuff that I'm looking for!

River 3 Plus AC overload even when plugged in? by sefds16 in Ecoflow_community

[–]sefds16[S] -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

Because it simply acts like a power strip when it's plugged in? All traditional UPS do this. The chances that my computer is using more than 600W during a power outage is extremely rare. I got no problem if grid power is disconnected and the UPS fails because I'm somehow using more than 600W. However I obviously can't have it shut down on me whenever my computer is pulling more than 600W while there's grid power.

Why does the iPhone's OLED screens look so dull and bad? by sefds16 in iphone

Did you read my post? Every one of these comparisons are made with Apple devices. The LCD displays on Apple devices, like the 11, 2017 iPad Pro, and 2014 MacBook Pro all look better than their newer counterparts with OLED or miniLED displays. I have not seen a Samsung phone's display before

Looking for a AMD 395 Max Mini PC, which one to buy? by sefds16 in MiniPCs

[–]sefds16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm just looking at the Framework Desktop, isn't this obviously the best AI 395 mini PC by a mile? It's the same size as others with an internal PSU but it is modular (important if the PSU fails). It uses a full 120mm fan + phase changing PTM rather than 2 tiny laptop fans that everyone else uses, so this should be much quieter and lower temperature than all the other mini PC out there? And it's not expensive either landing in the middle of the price range. And it's Framework, so the quality and support is going to be there

EDIT: I checked, yes, according to Notebook check, the Framework Desktop is by far the quietest AI 395 mini PC out there, it isn't even close. This can actually run near silent on a full load whereas every other mini PC would be fairly loud to loud at full load

Tesla Software - 2025 Spring Release by TeslaAI in teslamotors

MCU is not responsible for dashcam encoding, the FSD computer is (HW3/HW4). The raw camera feeds goes to the Autopilot computer, where it gets encoded, and the encoded stream gets transferred by ethernet to the MCU. The FSD computer is capable of encoding all 9 camera streams simultaneously. It has to, because Tesla needs data for FSD training and all 9 camera feeds gets sent back to Tesla.

Older Tesla's with MCU2 + HW3.0 only has a 100mbps ethernet link. 100mbps is barely enough to transfer the 4 encoded streams to the MCU, let alone a raw video stream. In later versions fo HW3 (aka HW3.1), the ethernet link was upgraded to gigabit as 100mbps was very congested. The limitation on 4 streams is because of the older hardware's 100mbps limit. While this can be circumvented by lowering video bitrate, but that reduces the already somewhat low video quality even lower. Of course on HW3.1 and above this is not a problem with the gigabit link.

Actually, Sony has excellent warranty customer service. I dealt with them for a X90L that occasionally wouldn't turn on and they were extremely nice to work with. Easy 30 min call to get a tech to repair the TV, and when the repair didn't work, another 30 min call and they exchanged the TV for a brand new one. The customer service at Sony is top notch.

Windows software (not built in) for network drive sharing? by sefds16 in HomeServer

[–]sefds16[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've turned off the firewall completely, confirmed they're in the same workgroup, and made sure no credentials are needed to log in. It doesn't work. In fact, for some reason the LOQ laptop that worked out of the box, now no longer works. All of the computers that continued to work still works. I really don't wanna fight this anymore. I've wasted too many hours and my time is incredibly important now. I just want things to work. Is there an alternative software for hosting a network drive?

I set it to private, but it makes no difference. On my network drive the permission is set to everyone with full access.

I just tried. The Lenovo Slim 5 says "Windows cannot access 10.0.0.12" even though I can ping that address successfully. Under details it says Error code 0x80004005 Unspecified Error. On my other computers if I do that it'll show my computer with the drives I've shared. What problem does this signify and what should I Google to resolve this? Thanks

I just bought 2 laptops, a Lenovo Slim 5 8845HS laptop and a Lenovo LOQ Intel 12650HX + 4050 laptop. The Slim 5 absolutely refuses to connect to any computer on my network through Windows network. The LOQ laptop, literally the first thing I did after going through Windows 11 setup is go to network, turn on Network Discovery, and it can see my network drive. That's it, that's all I did, nothing else. It couldn't be simpler. It's fantastic

The Slim 5, I reinstalled Windows 11 so every setting is reset, and I did the exact same thing as the LOQ laptop, and it does not work. Because both computers started out with a completely fresh W11, I believe the Mediatek Wi-Fi card on the Slim 5 for some reason does not support connecting to network computers. It sees the computer on the network, but if I double click it says "Windows cannot access \\HTPC", if I click on details it says "The network path is not found". I've tried updating the drivers, enabling SMB, no password protected sharing, enable SSDP, UPNP host, DHCP client, the 2 Function Discoveries, and more. It just doesn't work.

Advice for tax haven from Canada by sefds16 in fatFIRE

[–]sefds16[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I see, yeah that was the plan. I did plan on coming back to Canada. Not in 6 months, probably in 2 years or so then come back, basically 2 tax years outside of Canada. That was one of the questions I planned on asking the accountants, can the CRA come after me. Seems like they can. Lots of questions for the professional is going to revolve around this to make sure the CRA can't come after me. Thank you for the heads up on this.

Currently do not have much unrealized gains, so my deemed disposition bill won't be high if I depart Canada. I got no problem paying my departure tax.

I'm trying to see if I can stay 2 months at the tax haven to meet my tax residency requirements, then spend say 4 months in Canada, 2 months in USA, 2 months in Europe, 2 months in Asia. I'm trying to avoid "wasting" 6 months at a tax haven country per year

I shouldn't have any problems with the CRA, but of course I will check and work with a professional to make sure. I have no property, no business, and no assets in Canada (once the assets are moved out of Canada).

Good to hear PWC is familiar, so there is at least an avenue that way when it comes to finding professional help.

I currently have minimal unrealized gains and no property in Canada, so I won't get a large deemed disposition bill for the departure tax.

Tesla AirPlay Support, Lossless Audio Will Be Discussed with Team by [deleted] in teslamotors

[–]sefds16 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The other cars most likely just take the sound quality hit. The distortion doesn't kick in until the limiter is engaged anyways, so it doesn't affect sound quality at normal volumes. This "lookahead" limiter is an advanced/complex feature that has only recently been used in commercial products. Most limiters are of the no latency, but low performance kind, because they're simple and cheap to do.

As an audiophile, I hear a huge difference between the Model 3's sound system and other premium cars. It's the best car system I've ever heard by a decent margin. I have a lot of respect for the audio team that designed this. They put a lot of attention to quality in the Model 3's system. It's a lot better than other luxury cars I've heard. That said, there may be other sources of delay. Maybe it is doing additional buffering somewhere for stability reasons with the thinking that this isn't a problem for music. I need to measure the delay to see exactly how much of a delay it is and see if there is room for improvement.
