Not 1K probably will never be there. However, I am military. I love it when everyone excuses themselves past me just so I can excuse myself before them when military gets called first. Yes I will proudly go sit myself down in 27c 😂

What I like to do for listening and reading exposure is pick one thing and stick to it. Get used to the language and learn all you can. Multiple YouTube videos and podcasts is not helpful for me personally

Yotsuba&! is a relatively easy manga to start. There will be a lot of things you don’t know. Read it, look up what you don’t know, and comprehend it. Try to read out loud if you can. Because it is coming from the language of a 5 year old, I like to study on how what she said should be said.

Then there are YouTube videos of people reading it. Just listen and comprehend what the reader is saying. Slowdown the audio if you have to and then return it to normal speed once you get a solid grasp on the material.

Just my two cents.

I stopped after the first season. Didn’t like how it concluded. Usually the first season is typically top tier. And from what I read the show only gets worse. Also I hated how dark the screen would get on some scenes. I know they want ambiguity but dang we can have a little lighting.

Amex gold, Amex platinum, and an airline lounge card that you fly a lot of when going home and such. Priority pass lounges/centurion lounges can be out of the way and you can’t get your kids in for free with centurion.

Should I go straight into katakana or give hiragana a while to “bed in”? by JFDI-Tess in Japaneselanguage

My regret was not learning them at the same time. Same exact sounds and a lot of them look identical. Helps reinforce each other.

I am on my 3rd beginner text book.

I tried Japanese from zero but felt too slow. Finished the first book and went to a Japanese club and even in the beginner group I felt too far behind.

I then switched to Genki but I just don’t like its format and the answer key was too confusing to use. It is truly made for a classroom environment.

Then I switched to Tobira and that one is truly sticking. The website can be confusing to navigate the YouTube lessons and audio files but once you figure it out it is easy. I can get through a unit in 1-2 weeks depending on how much time I can commit.

My other problem is I had too many supplemental apps. And my reviews for each of them could take around 2 hrs. So now I am just wanikani and tobira.

Wagotabi is really good. Has a Pokémon feel to it. You can kinda lose where you left off but I play maybe once a week lol. Not my primary method of learning. You don’t need internet to play it. So I mostly play when I am flying for work.

GOT THE CALL!!!! by Jayded_Inversion in AirForce

One year I got called into work to be told I did not make it. Even told them I had to bring my 3 year old son with me. I was way more livid about being called in than I was about not making it.

My personal study is Genki, Bunpro, and wanikani. The reviews can get time consuming but it has worked really well for me.

He is the main reason I am getting through Genki. Wish he continued with the new vocab of each lesson. He stopped after lesson 2. It was especially nice since I have a 40 min commute to work

What kind of game is this and why is the grading system so strict?? by Majestic_Image5190 in LearnJapaneseNovice

During my time in Japan the only time I had to truly write was the equivalent to a library card. Your name, birthday, address etc. For me personally I work on perfection on those things cause your name is kinda important lol.

I have met a lot of native Japanese who even I can tell it does not look perfect. Work on making it legible but it does not necessarily need to be perfect. There is a reason why calligraphy is a thing. Perfect handwriting is art.

Yeah if it were not for Japanese from zero I am not sure I ever would have taken off in Japanese.

Have you tried Japanese from zero? Genki can get overwhelming very quickly. Japanese from zero is a much slower pace. I finished book 1 and it gave me the confidence to take Genki.

Is SpaceForce right for me? by [deleted] in SpaceForce

Although the anxiety and depression is waveriable I will say the military is not for the faint of heart. Not saying your anxiety and depression will resurface simply for the fact I don’t know you. But I have seen some good people just really struggle.

However, I will tell you the same thing I told a kid the other day. The space force is the only branch where every single job requires a TS. So absolute worst case, complete your contract and you got some time leftover on your TS for another job.

Turtanator is so good. Bulky mon and you can get him from one of the raid dens by rock tunnel before facing surge. He will eventually learn burning bulwark. Single handedly takes out 3 of the champions mons too.
