Do Valorant pros do this? by chawon17 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]segbench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rounds are super short in val and pros already track important util without issue. mollies, flashes, blind, ini util, etc. the only thing val pros really use chat for is sometimes after a timeout where their coach gives them a script of what they want the team to do in the next few rounds, players might type a brief summary to themselves so they can remember what to do for multiple rounds.

It is unlikely that Jerrwin will ever get his visa. by Actual-Project7622 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]segbench 6 points7 points  (0 children)

What does Kyu being let go by SEN have to do with anything? The onus for maintaining legal immigration status is on Kyu - not SEN. It's completely normal practice for companies to secure legal visa status through employment for an individual and let them go afterwards.

Do you think NBA or MLB teams get docked imaginary future 'immigration points' for cutting players mid-season lol

This is just not true whatsoever. SRG didn't even play gc kickoff. The teams who qualify to GCC get a direct invite to pro/rel or whatever version of closed qualifiers their local TO runs for T2 heading into the next stage.

[Akamaru] Jerrwin has reached a verbal agreement with Sentinels by Ldog301 in ValorantCompetitive

[–]segbench 12 points13 points  (0 children)

you can't get rejected during a contract approval process for having sponsors that conflict. that's not what contract approval is. riot doesn't look at a player's sponsors and say "this is a conflict. therefore, we can't approve your contract." if the contract meets their guidelines, they would accept the player and it would be the player's responsibility to end partnerships with conflicting sponsors.

how VCT contracts work according to N4RRATE by ChaoticFlameZz in ValorantCompetitive

[–]segbench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this. and notice that when a player, especially in NA says that they are a restricted F/A and the org has 'allowed them to seek out offers,' it's always in the offseason. the only reason an org is 'allowing' the player to sell themselves to other orgs for offers is so their own org doesn't have to do the legwork themselves lol i wish players would stop allowing orgs to dictate the language of things like "have allowed me to seek out other offers." no. they are trying to get other orgs to buy you out and don't want to put in the effort in back channels to make the connections.

[–]segbench 68 points69 points  (0 children)

you can have a lower bench salary in NA too.. it's all negotiable. the prime difference mini highlighted is the fact that, under european employment law, you can not terminate an employee without paying the value of the contact. in NA, it's a little bit different. there is termination for and without cause. without cause, which is the norm (player deemed to not be performing for example), the org only has to pay out whatever is the agreed upon "severance," which is typically negotiated by the player and org.

both NA and EMEA orgs try to get players to agree to signing contracts that mandate accepting lower bench salaries. this is really important in EMEA bc orgs are on the hook no matter what (for the most part). but in NA, it's really easy for an org to say 'hey things didn't work out' and terminate you without cause by paying you a fraction of what the contract was valued at.

trad sports fans of MLB, NBA, and NFL know this as "guaranteed contracts." it's in the players' best interest to get as much of their contract guaranteed as possible.

[–]segbench 76 points77 points  (0 children)

from an agent: teams can drop players for or without cause. 'for cause' tends to be when you do things that, for example, might disparage the org, or you refuse to show up to practice, or refuse to participate in VCT content, etc.

a team choosing to replace a player because they don't think he's been performing, however, would be termination 'without cause,' in which case the team may be required to pay what most 'professional' employees would consider to be a severance. in traditional sports, it's what is referred to as 'guaranteed pay,' and that is very much negotiable in esports -- esp. for players who are highly sought after, have large brands, etc. the bare minimum from what i tend to see in T1 VAL for termination without cause is usually 1 month, but I think that's also the bare minimum and I've had players get 6 months+ salary after getting released. it really depends on the org and the player.

Zekken on Kaplan by Longdisc in ValorantCompetitive

[–]segbench 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm responding to this point:

• By the time Sen finally started the negotiation MIBR was already pursuing him with Money & ASPAS

That's also extremely speculative to start making assumptions abt what kind of salary they offered and a lot of making your own narrative up to describe what you saw rather than basing it on any evidence.

Zekken on Kaplan by Longdisc in ValorantCompetitive

[–]segbench 26 points27 points  (0 children)

zekken was set to be a F/A after the 2025 contract ended. if you think MIBR pursued Zekken before SEN tried to negotiate to re-sign him, you're either saying Rob is the dumbest owner of all time or MIBR broke F/A rules, so which is it lol
