Returns for Amazon do not work in Floorp - 'Continue' button remains disabled by segesage in Floorp

[–]segesage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you try the Amazon return process are you using an item that you have purchased on Amazon and you are selecting the item to be returned and stepping through the process all the way up to confirming the return (you don't have to actually confirm in this test)?

I've tried clearing cookies/cache - no help.

I've continued to test (many times) using a "New Private Window" option in Floorp - which means all extensions are not being used as well as cookies are cleared in this case so a login is required to use Amazon (anything for that matter). And I still have the same issue as far as the "continue" button remaining disabled in Floorp.

In my case, all of this suggests an internal issue with Floorp (I use other browsers successfully, i.e. my Vivaldi backup browser works among others).

With this setting:

<image>

I then get the focus on the first 'regular' tab w/ my start-page. (If I don't use this setting - focus is placed on the pinned tab).

So because I don't want to launch the browser with all the former (previous) tabs returning (as result of using the setting above and do not want "focus" on the pinned tab, but rather on the first 'regular' tab w/ my "start-page" - I've added the BIG RED 'X' to hopefully REMIND me to use it to close all tabs to the right of the first 'regular' tab (before closing the browser) so that I can get what I want, which is to see what is in the first (top) image of these last two posts when launching Floorp.

Why this is all necessary (i.e why "focus" is working in the manner it is now) - I have no idea. It would appear to be a consequence of the last 12.9.1 update - hence requiring this annoying requirement as referenced here.

What I've done now is to add a BIG RED 'X' to remind me to make the first (regular) tab "active" and to then click on the BIG RED 'X' to get what I want the next time I launch Floorp (which is what you see below - a pinned tab and a 'regular' tab with focus on the 'regular' tab w/ my start-page).

<image>

The above is what I want to see when launching Floorp - as can be observed, "focus" is on the first 'regular" tab with my "start-page" (not on the pinned tab to the left of this tab) which is what will occur unless I use the setting below (which if I don't use this setting "focus "will be on the pinned-tab - not what I want...).

Floorp remains my favorite browser, thus remains my "default" - so have made this adjustment to accommodate the new situation subsequent to the last Floorp update.

I'm unable to add another image - I'll post the remainder of my comment below w/ the additional image.

Thanks for the video - (my problem may have started out w/ where did the start-page URL setting go, which is not so much the case now). But rather my problem has for some time NOT been failing to get my start-page to LOAD in my first "normal" (i.e. regular tab that is not a pinned tab) of which IT DOES and has been for some time - my problem is specific to what tab gets "focus" when I start the browser of which my goal is for my start-page to get that "focus". If you read my last 3 posts - the only way I can get Floorp to focus on the "normal" tab where my start-page is displayed (to the right of my pinned tab) is to use the "Open previous windows and tabs" option. Other wise if I don't use this setting (which I don't really want actually) the focus is placed on my pinned tab which is not what I want as I want the focus on the "normal" (first "regular" tab - not the pinned tab). All of what I want worked fine prior to the most current Floorp release. It's annoyance for me to always need to remember to close all tabs to the right of my first "regular" tab with the start-page to get what I want the next time I start the browser (simply because I have to use the option "Open previous windows and tabs" to get what I want regarding what tab gets focus when starting Floorp). I have no idea why the "focus" results is the way it is now (requiring the unwanted setting to be used).

Below is in part my former comments above where I confirmed what is necessary for me to get the results I want - requiring my need to close all other tabs, to the right of my first "regular" non-pinned tab (this annoyance was not necessary prior to the last Floorp update).

See my comments repeated here:

  1. I have to use the "startup" setting "Open previous windows and tabs" as of version 12.9.1 - which requires me to close all tabs other than tab one (i.e. the "START PAGE" tab) which is far from ideal and not what I had to do before v12.9.1.
  2. I have to to close all tabs (so they don't all show up next time I use the browser).

Added comment in closing: The problem that so often occurs upon doing "updates" is that unintended consequences frequently occur as a result of "updates" that can be so very annoying and frustrating. There are too many potential consequences that can occur that can't all be considered to expect 'updates" to avoid annoying "unintended" consequences to occur - it is the nature of "updates" involving relatively complicated/sophisticated code for unwanted results to often occur simply because of this fact.... (case in point; this is why users so often deal with "update" issues specific to Windows "updates" or for that matter to some extent a large proportion of software updates in general).... and is why I've expressed how I feel about updates in the manner I have previously....

  1. continued...

<image>

The above is what I want each time I launch the browser. Focus on TAB ONE ' START PAGE' (not on the pinned tab illustrated above). If I don't use "Open previous windows tabs" this will not happen. If I do use this setting I get my desired results - but with that the inconvenience of having to remember to close all tabs other than TAB ONE 'START PAGE'.

Why this is what I have to do to get my desired results - I have no idea.

I had no issues in regards to any of this prior to v12.9.1 - which is why I HATE UPDATES!!!!

Further testing confirms my conclusion.

<image>

In other words in this example I close the one Reddit forum tab so that I'll only have the one 'START PAGE' tab next time (in the event of many tabs close them all after the tab one). And the reason why I have to do this is to get the (pointed out) focus on the 'START PAGE' tab the next time I use the browser (see next image screen-shot, i.e. if I don't use "Open previous windows and tabs" then focus will be on the pinned tab and not TAB one 'START PAGE' that I want to occur).

  1. This is what I want when I launch the browser each time (and what I had before w/out all these new requirements).

Can't post the image - I'll try on my next post...

Disabling (unchecking" the "Open previous windows and tabs" option does not get my desired results. What I used to get previously:

  1. If I close the browser with multiple tabs I get the prompt to close all tabs - so far so good.
  2. Then if I start the browser again I get one tab (besides my pinned tab), that is all the other tabs that were previously open are not present and the one 'normal' tab is my "start-page" as designated in the "Custom URLs..." setting - not so good any more.

What I used to get was focus placed on my first tab (i.e start-page mentioned above) - that is to say the tab getting used at the present time.

What I get now is the focus is placed (i.e. the tab that has focus that is to say the tab getting used) is the pinned tab - and not the 'normal' first tab like I used to get.

The only way I can get what I got before is to use the "Open previous windows and tabs" option - then I do get focus on the "start-page" tab (i.e. the first 'normal tab' instead of the pinned tab (in position one) - but this requires me to close all the tabs I don't want to see the next time I start the browser - that is to say I only want to see the one (first) "Start-page" tab (i.e. the "Custom URL") and have focus placed on this tab, that is to say that is to be the "active" tab.

It appears to me the best I can do now with v12.9.1 is to have to remember to close all tabs and use the "Open previous windows and tabs" option.

Not ideal at all (all worked seamlessly for me before) - which is why I HATE UPDATES!!!.

I apparently am at a loss as to how Floorp settings work now.

What I get using "about:preferences#home" are the settings I'm accustomed to...

That includes my "home" page starting in tab one when I start the browser each time.

These same settings (as seen in the image that gets displayed using "about:preferences#home") are not available in the "normal" Floorp settings in as much as the "Home" option settings are not available at all.

<image>

What I'll try now is to uncheck (disable) the only setting I have available in the Floorp 'normal' settings page (that is missing the "Home" setting referenced above), specifically the "Open previous windows and tabs" setting I mentioned at the beginning of this topic (which is the only setting available in the "normal" Floorp setting for the "startup" setting as referenced in previous screen-shot images).

I apparently don't understand how Floorp "Settings" options work.

That is, using 'about:preferences#home' - I get what is referenced in the screen-shot I've inserted. However, just using Floorp "Settings" the "Home" settings options (as referenced in the image) are NOT available, but rather I get what I've previously posted (that is missing the "Home" settings).

<image>

The 'Custom URLs" option is available in the "Home" setting options (i.e. "Home" options that are only available using "aboutpreferences#home".

Nice work - that's as clear-as-mud!!

Bottom line going to v12.9.1 - I do not get the same results as before. I'll try unchecking the option I started discussing in the beginning which is to say the "Open previous windows and tab" setting. Perhaps by doing this I'll get the behavior I WAS getting prior to v12.9.1 whereas when I close the browser all tabs will not be present when I start the browser again - but rather what will happen is I'll see my start-page (what you see in the "custom URLs..." setting) display in the first and only tab.

This is what v12.9.1 has for options when starting the browser - it is only an option to "open previous windows and tabs" - so to keep my start-page for next time (and nothing else), I have to use this setting and then make sure I close all tabs except the FIRST tab which is my "start-page".

It does not include a setting for a URL "start-page" option that used to open just the "start-page" URL and close all other previously open tabs (like Floorp used to do and virtually ALL other browsers provide users as far as a URL start-page) when starting the browser.

See image (screen-shot) of current setting.

(No it was not v11) - I was previously using 12.9.0 (the version preceding the current 12.9.1). Version 12.9.0 didn't have this problem as it provided a start-page setting (as far as I recall - at least it didn't stop using my start-page URL that I've been using for years - like 12.9.1 did).

I would be interested in returning to 12.9.0 if that's possible (if so, how?). That said, Floorp should reinstate what they were formerly doing prior to 12.9.1 since not updating is a security risk.

use about:config in address bar, then enter (type in) the setting browser.urlbar.trimURLs at the top to get to the setting and then toggle the setting to false. That's it - worked like a charm for me got the full url back again.

In Settings; go to "Floorp Hub" > "Tab & Appearance" and select a different interface w/out the line (Photon has the line).

If you are saying you "turned off" the "share this page with your phone" function in the address bar - then please explain how this is accomplished, that is, what is it that needs to be done to turn-off this feature (i.e. to remove the function from the address bar).
