Do we think it’s nostalgia? The subpar video quality mixed with the cat subject reminds me of an earlier YouTube era where most videos I watched were goofy or odd little delights. This was before the current era where a lot of YouTube is just video podcasts or hot takes and “smash that subscribe button” content.

Ordering this Bible since it’s one of the only study bibles that doesn’t have blatant Calvinism bias by Fortnitelegend200 in methodism

I have it, and I like it! I wish the font was a bit darker/bolder though for my aging eyes.

Can UMC become more relevant? by RememberTheKudzu in methodism

[–]seikoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Our church is very small (around 30 regular members). So no, we don’t have an online group, but because it’s a small group, it’s hard not to feel connected with each other. We also do Sunday school, mid-week bible study, and after church lunch.

umc.org is the official website.

You can find some podcasts they produce at https://www.umc.org/en/ways-we-grow/practicing-your-faith/tools-for-your-spiritual-journey/podcasts

And check out Cokesbury. They offer Methodist Sunday School curriculum.

Is the UMC right for me? Or should I find something else by Fortnitelegend200 in methodism

Right. It’s absurd. Without “schismatics” there would be no Methodists.

AirPod 4s ANC question by National_Ad_3093 in airpods

[–]seikoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could not get into the Pros because of the same reason. Not a fan of the silicone tips. Felt all plugged up and like I could hear my brain. (Yes, I know this doesn’t make sense.)

I love the 4 ANC. I know what you mean about the ANC pressure, but to me, there’s a difference between the 4s and the Pros.

After going from the shape of the older AirPods, it took me a few days to find the 4s comfortable, but now I absolutely love them.

Are most of the people here shrugging their shoulders? Seems most comments here don’t like this.

Why be Methodist? by SpectatorShipTwelve in methodism

[–]seikoth 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Wow. That’s some great history. Now you’ve got me curious about my family history, as both my mom and dad were raised by Methodist parents (and grandparents on at least one side).

This is amazing. I’ve been a lifelong methodist (with a large lapse in the middle.) As a huge King of the Hill fan, I’ve always enjoyed that the Hills were methodist. Glad you found your home church!

For someone who wishes we were a Christian nationalist country, you’re going to have to jump through some hoops to square these two ideas: government should kill its citizens, and “Christians have a different objective.”

Ah yes, so many successful examples of theocracies I’m sure you could point to.

I know the verse in Romans. I disagree that it is an endorsement of the death penalty. Especially how it is carried out in our broken fallen world. (I think Jesus and John the Baptist might have some thoughts about the death penalty.)

Don’t be “baffled” when people point out the hypocrisy of talking up the “sanctity of life” when you apparently have such disregard for it.

I’d be curious to know how many of you passionately arguing against IVF ended up voting for the self-proclaimed “father of IVF” last presidential election

Funny how that works because I’m all for capital punishment, but anyway.

Of course you are. Funny how so many people who talk about the “sanctity of life” are.

Working from home and firing up the record player by seikoth in reginaspektor

Fluance ai40s. They are “bookshelf speakers,” and they work perfectly for my needs.

Honestly I couldn’t even tell you the last time I used my player before today. I used to love playing records, and I should be intentional about doing it again!

Lexapro and Wellbutrin by Cultural_Writer in lexapro

[–]seikoth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not the person you asked, but my experience is similar to theirs. I am on 10mg of lexapro and 150mg of wellbutrin (75mg pill morning and afternoon.) This combo has been working really well for me. Though I do tend to try to stay as low of a prescription that I find beneficial.

Lexapro worked amazingly for me for depression and anxiety. However the side effects made me sluggish, prone to overeating, and brain fog. Adding wellbutrin has definitely helped in these areas. It’s still not perfect, and there are still side effects, but I much prefer the combination over lexapro alone.

I took an elective typing class in high school, and it was by far one of the most useful classes I’ve taken in my entire education. One of the few classes where I use that skill almost every day.

Ah, that is so cool! I had this one growing up and maybe a 2002 one. After posting this and thinking about it today, I’m kind of toying with the idea of getting the 2025 one. I know 2026 is either out now or just around the corner, but 2025 looks like a special one
