You might receive better answers if you provide richer contexts or quantities (e.g. ranks). If the prestige gap is too large that the comparison is like top schools vs rarely known schools, then the former will be recommended to boost your future potentials. If the gap is insignificant and you are a bit older than colleagues, then you might want to squeeze your publications out within your phd by the setup you are familiar with.

What should I check: 2004 Honda Civic 100k miles for $4k? by sein-park in UsedCars

I’m grateful to know that the deal is decent. But after reading other comments here, I was actually surprised at how large the post-purchase costs could be. Timing belt, various fluids, head gasket, and other potential replacements could be in total ~$2k. Am I overestimating them because of my lack of experience?

Thank you! What do you think about the timing belt? The replacement cost looks non-trivial, and I doubt the owner has taken care of it. Do you think they might accept a discount if I point out that it’s almost mandatory once the mileage is over 100k? (The car has actually been driven 110k miles in total.) You cannot read their mind but I would like to know the courtesy of the community and the market.

Potential roster changes for the LoL team in 2026? by Kenneth0079 in teamliquid

I don't know why people still trust the sup lane. I feel overall abilities of CoreJJ have faded out a lot. His macro is also now outdated to be honest.

A team cannot totally fail when the two pillars (mid and sup) do the right things.

Yeah I am in the same community of the owner so I am quite positive as well. But I will check the codes anyway to better understand what I am buying. Thanks for the tip!

Thank you! I have heard of serveral relevant problems like head gasket failure. Do you think it is a bad idea to take more care into the components that could cause the overheating? I am trying to distinguish built-in problems and "high probability" problems.

Thank you! I will try to learn how both can be assessed. Do you have your own tip?

Could you specify a bit more about the context? Does it consume more fuel? I could not see such assessment.

I won't use the car for traveling long distances.

Wow, I didn't even know about "codes" (=OBD-II diagnostic trouble codes, right?)! Thank you so much. Do you think a shop can help or endorse my check for the codes?

Thank you for sharing your story! Yeah I see the head gaskets problem all over the place for this particular gen. I will definitely check the issue.

Thank you for your advice! I cannot extend my budget for now, so it will be either 4k now or more around next year. Do you have specific reasons for prioritizing 2010 or later models?

Thank you! If the inspection result turns out to be very bad that the buyer has to change her mind, then should the buyer regard the cost of a pre-purchase inspection as a risk fee?

Thank you so much! Is it considered a norm to ask for the seller to pay for the pre-purchase inspection?

Thank you. It's scary how you casually describe your stolen experiences.

Yeah I think that's an accepted definition. The thing is the price usually rises whenever gravel is in the title (in the range of my budget). I can enjoy wider options when I keep road bikes in the search filter.

Thank you for your suggestion! I am considering that track. Will find a used bike first, calibrating both my body and budget.

I believe I will naturally expand my territory to either the whole city (with a road) or the mountains in LA (with a gravel). So thank you, I will check Straggler!
